I've started a VERY comprehensive guide on how to rock out in the 'T. Dot' (as it is known by locals).

Everything from the best electro clubs, the cheap nights for martinis, best sushi lunch specials and who to contact for guestlist is on here if you're visiting Toronto. Hope this helps!

Excellent stuff! Can we add this info to the Indie Travel Guide page? I can put a link back to your page along with a credit.

6 weeks too late for me sad.gif. I'm also sorry to report that the Toronto Indie guide is a little out of date. One Club closed down and the other played god awful rave.

Dance Cave appeared to be closed down. My brother worked nearby and said it was always closed too.

The Annex Wreckroom was the one that played Muzak all night. There is still a chance I just went on the wrong night though, as the flyer and myspace testified that it played half decent music.

I also went to a/the MOD club which didnt live up to it's name. Played pure noise all night with two exceptions The Cure and Squeeze. At opposite ends of the night.

I'd hate to write-off the city, so it would be great if someone could verify or rebuke my findings. One thing I will say was that I was with my coldplay loving brother who hated going out and thus couldn't reccoment anywhere to go. And I also went to a packed out Camera Obscura gig so I know something good must be happening there. Just a pity I seem to have missed it somehow, would hate anyone else to get caught inthe same pitfall as I did.

I went to the Mod club too, and it was indie of the Club NME variety - so stuff like Kasabian. Lee's Palace has forthcoming gigs listed and the Dance Cave still appears to be going according to their website...very odd.

I liked Sneaky Dee's the best, but that's mostly a live venue I think.

I'm not sure exactly what type of music you are looking for, but if you are looking for the indie of all indie, you have to just saunter around Kensington Market and stumble across live artists. If you like electro, the best club in Toronto for it (that is legit and not touristy) is Wrongbar. I recently went to Mod Club too and it was horrible, but it may just have been the DJ.

Dance Cave, closed down? Impossible. It's right next to my uni..

It's too bad you were disappointed with Toronto.

You can check out more suggestions on local music blogs, places to eat, events (I promote in Toronto). Everything is up to date (except my Mod Club review, which I need to change).
