Title: #31 - "Artillery"
Description: (03 AUG - 09 AUG)
Commissar Molotov - August 2, 2009 11:36 PM (GMT)
"Though my guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire." -- The Tyrant of Badab
Whether a Dwarven bolt thrower, a catapult bringing down a castle or the Imperial Guard's finest bunker-busters, this is an opportunity to showcase the awesome power of artillery. Whether you depict the weapon and crew, or the tremendous impact of those weapons is up to you. :)
Hatten - August 3, 2009 03:12 PM (GMT)
Argh! I have a perfect picture for this (in progress) which I had meant for another WSG. D; Damn you!
Chapow! - August 4, 2009 12:43 AM (GMT)
I like to think of this as depicting the weapons, the crew,
and the tremendous impact XD
Ophidicus - August 4, 2009 12:59 AM (GMT)
I haven't posted anything in a KTM for ages but I have a cracking (& to my mind jolly funny) idea for dis - er - this, so if I get the chance I'll do it.
russ29 - August 4, 2009 02:42 AM (GMT)
hahaha. Chapow! Now that is awesome! I love your creativity dude!
EDIT: BTW C.Mol, nice follow up quote from Huron
BiGFooT - August 4, 2009 08:40 AM (GMT)
I smell Slaanesh, Chapow! :D Awesome idea anyways
russ29 - August 5, 2009 12:55 PM (GMT)

This week's WSG. Sorry for the lousy picture as I am not as motivated this week due to boy liking girl stuff. :(
Comrade-K-Rad - August 6, 2009 12:13 AM (GMT)
@Chapow!: Wow! Tats was certainly interesting. Nice job.
@russ29: Keep working on your painting, you'll keep getting better with each one.
Here's my entry for this week:
Striogi - August 6, 2009 03:22 AM (GMT)
I'm on holiday starting today, and I've got to drive 6+ hours down to LA this eve, as such, I simply don't have enough time to finish this the way I want to, so I'm sorry, but this is all you get:
schwager - August 9, 2009 09:12 PM (GMT)
Hello all... leaving it very late again... but the struggle for financial survival has suddenly become very real, so not enough time to spend on fun stuff, I'm afraid.
But first some comments...
Chapow!:
That's awesome, what a great idea!... and nice execution, too.
Hope you don't mind me saying this, but it rather reminds me of Tom of Finland's work ;)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_of_Finland@ russ29:
Hmm, I can see what you tried to do here with perspective and all... but I don't think it works very well. The legs come out very short, which makes the whole character look a bit like a duck.
Nice interpretation of the subject, though :)
@ Comrade-K-Rad:
This would a great scene, if I could only make out what's going on. Your sketch would really benefit from some shading (even just rough). Alternatively you could boost your contrasts once you've scanned it in, to bring out the lines better.
@ Striogi:
Ooh, I like this one... in fact, it might be one of my favourite pages of yours so far.
The array of big guns is just wonderful and I was gonna do something similar at first myself.
I also really like the first panel ;)
Anyway, here's mine now... really not much this week, as explained above...
Tiuku - August 9, 2009 10:00 PM (GMT)
Yay, I didn't fail this week also... Interesting entries you have here, all of them have potential to be really fine pieces when finished.
I ended up with the same idea than you, schwager. Sorry to heard that you have such problems, hopefully things are going to be all right soon.

Tiuku out.
Commissar Molotov - August 9, 2009 10:58 PM (GMT)
Hey guys. I'm somewhat disappointed at the number of entries, but as Schwager mentions, there are many real-world factors that people have to contend with nowadays. It's great to know that despite these factors, the Illuminati still find a way. :)
Your points'll be updated momentarily; I'll be putting up WSG32 in a few minutes, too. :)
russ29 - August 10, 2009 08:32 AM (GMT)
Thanks for the comments! Anyway, my comments for all.
Comrade: Very nice diorama, but it is the lines are too light to see. Perhaps darkening it could show more depth. Anyway, awesome idea!
Striogi: Nice work dude, it seems as though your works are actually the ones making the decision for the next WSG. Haha, still, I wonder what you'll do for the next one.
Schwager: My tau is supposed to go on bended knee, but somehow it didn't work well. And, wow, that is some artillery... Nice shading as always. You use traditional medium right? I actually prefer that, but its nice for a change of pace with the tablet.
Tiuku: NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! I was hoping you'll do a tau art as well, and we're missing one more. Anyway, its funny how you and Chapow got the same idea. And very nice concept art-like picture. The only thing's missing is the rough color!
Mol: True, I am doing school internship now in a hotel, and I can tell you, hoteliers have no life. Seriously... And also, being a teenager means I get attracted to the other sex easily, but as always, guys put work before woman first right? Not for me, so I'm really sad. :( lol.
schwager - August 16, 2009 09:29 PM (GMT)
@ Tiuku:
Sorry for the late reply, mate... that's a great looking cannon! Great minds think alike, eh? ;)
The only thing missing for me is something to indicate scale, which I tried to do with my little stickmen. Some really lovely shading, though.
@ russ29:
I think you got a bit confused there between Chapow's and my entries/comments. Never mind ;)
Easy E - August 17, 2009 02:12 AM (GMT)
I wish I would have used a reference shot...

@Tiuku and Schwaager... reminds me of a Squat Goliath Cannon
russ29 - August 17, 2009 12:53 PM (GMT)
Schwager: Sorry, edited the post. Somehow when I feel so tired with the computer I get the names rather mixed up.
Again, life's been pretty tiring and stressful and not that it helps that the F1 is round the corner. Got to work extra hard now. :(
