This week's topic comes from Tiuku:

QUOTE
"Look out, sir!" -what this outcry brings to one's mind

It's up to you to bring this scenario to life. Who - or what - could sacrifice themselves for another? Whether a Bretonnian Squire sacrificing himself for his Knight, or an Ogryn Bodyguard fiercely protecting his Officer, it's up to you to portray one such moment of valour on the grim battlefields of the Warhammer universes. Of course, it could even be a duplicitous Skaven putting his master into harm's way... ninja.gif

Brilliant work, as always. Love your trilogy kind of style as well. Anyway, one thing about the picture. I think the slam from the SM would probably hurt more for the guardsman won't it. rolleyes.gif

Points added, Striogi! smile.gif I have to agree with russ, though - being pushed by a Space Marine probably hurts more than an artillery shell would! wink.gif

Striogi: nice! I can see improvement in your already great work, and this picture really calls to mind the classic troops-meeting-tyranids feel, like something out of the color text in a rulebook or something! smile.gif

A continuity issue: look at the angle of the heavy bolter to the wall in frame 3. Look at the direction it is turning in frame 4. Look at its angle to the wall in frame 5. It should be at about 20 degrees to the angle of the wall; in stead it's at about 160.

A style comment: the space marine is in virtually the same position in frame 3 and frame 4. You might have achieved greater dynamism by having his eyes directed forward in frame 3.

Alastor: really great beginning! I hope you do more on it. Maybe adding another guardsman or two with the one who is about to get executed (first tongue.gif) for looting xenos technology, certainly finishing up the guardsman on the viewer's left. I love the commissar! biggrin.gif

Thank you for all the comments! yeah, I saw the head issue after I had inked it, and erased the pencil lines. In all honesty, that whole frame needs to be redone. Meh.

Didn't notice the Hbolter, actually.

Alastor:
Fantastic concept. Digging it! keep it up! (though, I think the other guardsman would earn a bolter shell for warning his superior...)

This title is 'Look out my love'. Aun'la'J'in'a saving Shas'la'rs'us. Original tau characters.

EDIT: Anyway, good picture alastor. Shows a lot of story within that picture, and eldar getting grappled by guardsman? I think the guardsman must be a named character! tongue.gif

And also, tau blood is supposed to be blue, but for the sake of it, I made it red.

russ29, that's just tooth-rotting sweet. ^__^

This isn't actually what I had in mind first, but I couldn't resist Commissar's idea about skavens. I hope that the picture is clear enough.

Ok in a very schwager style WSG format im gonna make sure i feedback first before showing my work, so here i go smile.gif

Striogi - I was lurking your art thread the other day, and im abit dishearted of the realisation that, yes, a full 40k comic is an almost futile attempt but i still enjoy what you produce everyweek. Its getting to the point of tradition now, i think everyone will be gutted if theres no episode made by you weekly. Last cell in this weeks piece is the weakest, but i feel like im nit picking, so anywho, keep it up! biggrin.gif

Alastor - I really like the style you did the commissar in, it just works. Im glad that in the topic of "look out" that there is at least one 'O face'. ohmy.gif The only thing that confuses me is why the guardsman has the gun to his head? What treason is he commiting here? (i know it might be obvious but i dont see it) *reads chapows comment below alastors* looks like im doing a big 'O face' now ohmy.gif

Russ29 - Hoorah, another Tau entry (im not baised at all wink.gif ). Sometimes people can get away with black outlines, but im afraid these are really distracting in your piece here, its easier said than done, try approaching you sketches thinking about the form and shades of your wanting to draw rather than a frame. Its how I start out, working to build the lighting and solidity of a piece, then the any black outlining coming last as a way of a final touch. Its nice to see female tau, its a real grey area in tau imagery, technically the genders are no different, i think, but i know of numerous occasions where they have a humanised perspective of gender (in the firewarrior book, the head of the air caste swooning of the head of the water castes elegant beauty). Overall just keep up the practice on the tablet and you'll get there smile.gif

Tiuku - For a very quick sketch seems very fluid and natural, a good start. It would be great to see more, thank you

'Headshot!'

I wish i had a A3 scanner, i miss those massive ones at uni, anyways, i tried to fix some scanner dimness in PS but its still noticable (any tips on that?), hope it doesn't distract enough for you guy not to..... enjoy!

Striogi:Nice! I think your comics work really well with the dsg, its always fun to see what you come up with.

Alastor: I like the idea and i think you pulled it of well, simple and effective.

Russ29: I echo Birdie's statement, trim down the black and i think you'l find its going to look much better.

Tiuku: Could use a bit more work but otherwise its a good start.

Birdie: My favorite so far, great perspective and its an exciting situation, hehe sometimes i suck at finding the right description for what i feel, lets just say i like the action in your image, it almost feels like your participating due to the perspective.

ITS A TRAP!

Not really pleased with how it ended up, but it was really fun doing it.

Would a fairly straightforward two-front battle be acceptable here? I started a sketch of one recently and it could easily be Warhammer Fantasy-ized. And... well, there's not much time left for anything else.

He's trying to take impure alien technology as a battlefield trophy.

While the average Imperial Commander might pass a blind eye over certain battlefield trophies (teeth, claws), Commissars aren't known for leniency.
