I've got a bunch of messages and thought that I figured I could get out here whilst I have the chance.
Firstly, thanks to all the participants in our second competition "Boarding Action" - NING, Ophidicus and Schwager have all put together fantastic pieces, made all the better by the very diverse styles employed in all the entries. It only serves to underscore the wide range of skills and talents the Illuminati have. Voting ends at the end of Monday (that's tomorrow) - so be sure to vote if you haven't already! Secondly, I've taken the time to read through all the feedback to WSG14. I think we can safely say that the WSG has been a success. I'm proud that it's been going reliably, regularly and without fail since January and that we've seen a steady increase in participation. It's getting people to draw regularly, and to draw subjects that they might not ordinarily tackle. Of course, I got a lot of contradictory feedback - some people prefer tighter topics, others much looser ones - but I think the lesson from that is that you can't please everyone everytime! A number of posters said that they felt redesigning 40k races, whilst fun and rewarding, was time-consuming (and perhaps unsuitable for the WSG's weekly format.) As a result, I'm thinking of opening up a "40k 2.0" forum in the Project Forums section where people can concentrate on their redesigns. If people think this would be a good idea, please let me know. I was also looking through the previous competition, Ordo Illuminatus, and I thought it might be neat to have a sticky-topic in the 40k forum where people could contribute their own Inquisitors as they joined. Alternatively, I could make it a project forum. I did think that an "Ordo Illuminatus" in the 40k forum and a "Illuminatus All-Stars" in the Fantasy forums could be neat. Recently I've been very busy with real life as my university degree draws to a close. I would like to appoint a number of moderators who would be willing to work with me to improve the board. Alas our other two administrators have other concerns and aren't on Illuminatus enough. I've always been at a disadvantage because I'm not an artist myself - my talents lay more in the organisational stuff. I do have a number of plans and ideas, though. Ideally, I'm looking for a global moderator for the board, and someone willing to take over the promotion of the board, taking charge of our "Boarding Party" and working to take the Illuminatus name to other portions of the internet. Please let me know how you're finding Illuminatus, and any ideas you might have to improve the quality of the board! |

The idea about contributing Inquisitors sounds great!
I think making it a sticky would be best. |

I agree with Stuggy,
also, not sure if I'm missing something here, but wasn't it an awful long time since a OI newsletter came out? I can't remember receiving one for at least two, possibly three weeks... Or did we decide to send it out with longer time in between? |

I think "Illuminatus Legends" would be better for the fantasy side. "All-Stars" sounds like a Bloodbowl team. Although that would be cool, too.

I can be a global mod. I've a long experience of forum moderating (art-related too), stable connection and presence, so... if my service is needed, I can take the position.

I've been thinking things over for the last couple of days - I'm not a phenomenal artist (although I'm trying to improve), but I'd like to help the site nonetheless.
And so, if you're still looking for moderators, then I'm here to offer myself for the role*. I may not have all that many posts here, but I'm still around pretty much every day and read all the new posts each time I do check in. I have some reasonable former experience of moderation too (although I'm a little rusty with the Invisionfree system). *And if you're looking for further help, like I said in the KWSG section I'm also happy to deal with maintaining the sketch group scoreboard as well. But if you think I'm just not the kind of guy you're looking for, then I'm happy to remain a regular peon here. In the end, it's about what's best for the site, and if you don't think I'd fit the bill, then I wish you the best of luck in finding the right guy for the job. |
