What I'm looking for is a few images to go with the DIY Imperial Guard Regiment that I have been working on. I was origionally inspired by the look of the British Commonwealth forces in the new Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts PC game, more specifically the Captain and Commando units, though the tanks also have their own place.

I can see that one of the main problems with requests is the lack of information given for potential artists to draw from, as such I am posting here the Article that I have written for them so far.

Jenovia.

Jenovia a solar system is on the outer fringes of the Maelstrom. While it does not suffer as heavily from pirate raids and xenos incursions as those systems closer to the Maelstrom the Janus system, or more specifically the capital world of Jenova, is heavily levied for both the Imperial Guard and the Imperial Navy. Jenova has a long and proud military history stretching back thousands of years all the way to the time of the Great Crusade. Jenovia Primus, the capital world in the Jenovian system is a militarised world given over almost completely to the raising of Imperial Guard regiments. The Jenovian regiments, as previously stated, have a long and glorious history, unswervingly loyal and tenacious fighters the Jenovians have maintained their place among the regiments of renown in the Imperium.

Discovery.

Jenovia itself was re-discovered during the great crusade by the then loyal Horus and the Luna Wolves. One Reclusiarch Keric of the 8th Grand Company made planetfall on what is now Jenovia Primus right into the middle of a battle. The battle was between the then to national powers on the main continent, thousands of men on both sides clashed, sword to shield, spear to lance and yet more lay dying on the field. The view from the Thunderhawk Gunship gave Keric a grand overview of the battle. Regiments wheeled and charged, mounted units criss-crossed the battlefield, trying to outflank their enemy. One side had a flag of red white, striped horizontally with a great Bear like beast stitched in gold in the center. The other had a blue cross on a white background, a fierce Wolf like creature stitched in silver again in the center. As the Gunship roared overhead the fighting ceased, Keric ordered the pilot to land in the middle of the two previously warring armies.

The two sides split into their respective sides as the ship first stopped and then lowered itself to the ground. The front ramp's hydraulics hissed as the door swung down to the earth. Many of the men had taken up a defensive stance around the gaping maw of the ship, their previous hostility forgotten in the face of this otherworldy arrival. The black armoured chaplain strode out of the darkness, his squads following in strong contrast with the Luna Wolves bright pearl white armour. Standing at eight feet tall and as broad as a warhorse these beheamoths were a terrifying sight to behold, their helmets hiding their more human aspects, the Reclusiarch's skull even moreso. Keric surveyed the sea of men staring at him, they were frightened beyond words, the thousands strong armies uttered not a sound yet they were still ready to fight for their lives, their world. Keric was immediately endeared with the Jenovians. Movement within the armies caught his eye, a ripple on either side. The ripples ended as they broke through into the clearing the men had left around the ship, the Generals and retinues of the respective armies met first each other, grudging nods of respect cast between them before turning together and approaching the Astartes. As they approached Keric lifted his hands to the release clasps just under the lip of his helmet, deftly opening them and removing his helmet to the awe of the men surrounding them, the Generals step faltering as they moved yet closer.

The generals reached Keric and, unknowing of the protocal required to greet such otherworldy visitors and bieng soldiers were also unwilling to show subservience to a potential enemy, simply inclined their heads in respect as they had to each other earlier. Keric reciprocated before gesturing to the open doorway to the ship. What followed was a day and a night of talks between Keric and the two generals, the two armies making camp around the Thunderhawk, the Luna Wolf Astartes standing a constant vigil around the ship, not sleeping or resting in any way, becoming the object of the human soldiers stares and conversations. On the dawn of the second day the two Generals emerged with Keric. When the two forces were gathered the Generals announced that the war was over and they need never fight each other ever again. Mass celebration erupted almost immediately, men from both sides cried and hugged as thoughts turned to their families at home. The two leaders though had more sombre news. Their Monarchs would never relinquish their grip on the nations, more blood would have to be spilt to bring peace to their world. The ranks began to protest, they had sworn themselves to service of their Kings and could no more go against their oaths than go against their own blood, though some were less committed to their oath than others and yet some saw the wisdom in the move. As the protest spread Keric stepped forward, his black armour gleaming in the dawn sunrise. His voice carried over the thousands of gathered soldiers, the powerful orator holding them in raptured silence. He told them of the Emperor, of the Imperium of man and how all humanity was united in His service and how under him they would one day dominate the stars. The legion broke camp at dawn the following day.

Within a year Jenovia was united in the Emperors service, the Imperial Army was instituted. The world has since been fortified over the millennia as a lynchpin against pirate incursions in the region and has since turned away both Dark Eldar Slave Raids, Ork Waaaagh!'s and heretic incursions, becoming one of the region's only safe harbours. The surrounding worlds were quickly assigned to Jenovia as support centers and construction yards. Two whole planets are given over for both Imperial Guard and Imperial Navy training facilities, Jenovia IV and Jenovia X respectively. The system continues to produce Regiments, ships, arms and armourments of a high quality, the people of the system are rightly proud of their heritage in the Emperors service.

Jenovia Primus.

Jenovia is a verdant world, consisting of three continents and many smaller archipelagos with varied plant life and animal species present. The world is mostly green and lush, though this tranquility hides a fierce winter that can be lethal if unprepared for. The natural wildlife, though also rather similar to ancient Terra, is also misleading in its appearance. While it has no predators great such as giant lizards or flying beasts, the smaller predators present are just as deadly, mostly they are pack animals or reliant on ambushes. The main cities on the planet have been very heavily fortified, the walls standing as tall as a Titan, bristling with heavy weapons and emblazened with the cities ancient Insignia, banners flying in the wind, an Impressive sight to behold. There are five cities in total divided among the continents, each has a surrounding region that is both protects and draws recruits from. The region is divided up into smaller towns and villages which are, for all intent and purpose, training centers. The young are brought up to revere the Emperor first, obey their Monarch second and do their duty as warriors of the Imperium as best they can. Each citizen is required to become a member of the PDF for one year, after the training is completed and a year finished each citizen is sent back to their homes to join their local militia, the whole of the planets Militia is the equivilant to any other worlds PDF forces. A standing army was deemed unnecessary due to the constant rotation and reinforcement as well as raising of full Imperial Guard Regiments in the system.

The World of Jenovia was colonised during the Dark age of Technology, though isolation from support from Terra eventually rendered most of the Advanced technology inert, forcing the settlers to rely on more traditional methods to survive. As the generations passed the settlers gradually lost most of their knowledge of how to even maintain the machinery that still worked, as things broke they stayed irrovocably so. When the Adeptus Mechanicus arrived to help with the fortification of the world they discovered much lost technology, some bieng removed back to Mars for study while other pieces were deemed immovable for fear of them breaking. As such the Mechanicus established itself on a nearby world, constructing limited fabrication facilities in order to endear themselves to the Jenovian Military who had taken a dim view of the Mechanicus obsession over their technological heritage, not to mention their subsequent theft of most of it. This world also houses a Naval dockyard capable of refitting and re-arming most Imperial Navy vessels.

For all it's militaria and fortification the system has seen its fair share of suffering and strife. Dark Eldar slave raids are relatively frequent and while they are quickly repulsed, they always manage to take thousands of citizens from the system before they can be countered, the cathedral bells on each world toll for days afterwards for each human life lost to the inhuman machinations of the foul Xenos abominations.

Brief Treatise on the Jenovian Military.

The Guard regiments are generally split into two tiers, the first tier is the Jenovian Rifles. Specialist light infantry regiments and highly trained and motivated soldiers. Their Corps is responsible for all Infantry operations and specialists of the Jenovian military. Tier two is the Armoured Regiments. In the ancient days of Jenovia's pre-history there were many heavily armed and armoured mounted regiments in the old Feudal Kingdoms armies. When the world was taken into the Emperors light these regiments were replaced with Armour Regiments, Tanks and armoured vehicles exclusively. The two tiers of the Jenovian military are not deployed exclusively, they are paired together for maximum efficiency in any given warzone. While they do not operate together in the way Mechanised infantry do as utilised by the Steel Legion for example, they are given battlefield roles that maximise their strengths and specialities, each arm providing support for the other when the need arises.

The bulk of the Jenovian Rifle Corps is made up of the Royal Jenovian Rifle units. The only seperate units are of the Engineer Corps. The only other seperate organisation is the Command Corps who are seperate from both arms of the Military. The Engineer Corps is responsible for the construction and maintainance of defensive constructions and fortifications, ranging from Tank Traps, Razor Wire and Mines to Trenches, Bunkers and static Anti-Aircraft/Anti-Tank weaponry. The Command Corps encompases the bulk of officers in the Jenovian Military both Infantry and Armour. They make both the larger strategic and smaller tactical decisions that have to be made for the Jenovian Regiments and sometimes others as well, the Command Corps specialisation in one area has given them a reputation as bieng some of the best strategists in the Imperial Guard. The Command Corps also holds the Regiments veteran platoons for special missions and operations, these units are distinguished by their black berets, the Insignia is two shinbones in saltire the sinister surmounted of the dexter argent. The colour and insignia is not represented by any other regiment or unit within the Jenovian Military. These Special Forces units are equipped with the best available, typically using the Elysian bullpup pattern Lasgun.

43rd Royal Jenovian Rifles. - 12th Royal Jenovian Armoured (Rotated out of combat for reinforcement).
102nd Royal Jenovian Rifles. - 82nd Royal Jenovian Armoured.
7th Royal Jenovian Rifles. - 52nd Royal Jenovian Armoured.
216th Royal Jenovian Rifles. - 91st Royal Jenovian Armoured (Decimated M41.998 13th Black Crusade - Black Legion Traitor Astartes)
214th Royal Jenovian Rifles. - 9th Royal Jenovian Armoured.

Commended Jenovian Victories.

Cleansing of the Delphine Cluster - Mining system.

The 214th Royal Jenovian Rifles working in tandem with the 105th Tallarn cleanse the Delphine Cluster
of heretics after a mining revolt was incited by heretics working with Alpha Legion Traitor Astartes insurgents.
A twelve year battle Culminated in the destruction of the Alpha Legion Astartes elements conducting a last
against the Jenovian and Tallarn Regiments, resulting in heavy losses though were ultimately wiped out to a
man. The regiments were highly decorated for the notably difficult campaign among the heavy industry and
dense urban environs governing the system.

Conquer of Varrius' Belt - Ork ravaged system.

One of the most highly decorated Jenovian regiments, the 7th Royal Jenovian Rifles which alledgedly have ties
to the origional Imperial Army during the Great Crusade. Paired with the 52nd Royal Jenovian Armour they purged
the Orks from Varrius' belt with little opposition for the most part. The engagement that resulted in the highest
casualties of the war was when the two largest Ork clans on the planet, the Wizbangladz and the Tuff Nutz,
allied against the Imperial forces before proceeding to attack both of the Jenovian regiments at the same time
accross an extended front. The Jenovians had been expecting the two clans to reduce eachothers numbers
before moving in to mop up, this left them unprepared for the assault and as such initially suffered horrendus
losses. The Command Corps ordered a general retreat to previously constructed defences from an earlier
engagement. The unweildy and anarchic orkish horde could not hope to move at the same speed as the
Jenovians, giving them the precious time they needed to prepare for the onslaught. The pre-prepared positions
enabled the Jenovians to break the back of the Orkish horde.

What are the images for if you don't mind me asking? Home made codex? Just image reference for conversion work? I haven't read the whole article yet, but I thought I should just ask now as well.
