The GW universes are regarded as very extreme places where zealots of all stripes and colours interact with one another in ways that are invariably bloody and destructive! The dictionary describes a "fanatic" as having "wildly excessive or irrational devotion, dedication or enthusiasm; an extreme and uncritical zeal or enthusiasm, as in religion or politics."

Your task is to depict a "fanatic" that inhabits one of the 40k universes. This could be a Imperial Confessor or a Chaos Cultist whipping up a frenzy, or perhaps a Space Marine (they are all brainwashed warrior monks, after all!). Of course, you could do a Goblin Fanatic, with all the chaos that entails! Try to pay attention to how you convey their fanaticism.

Good luck! smile.gif

That's pretty damn sweet, Birdie, I really dig on the impressionistic, sketchy feel of it. Proportions are pretty good and the action/storytelling is clear.

Is that marker or watercolor or ink?

Thank you striogi, i appreiciate the support! I've had alot of trouble developing my own style in the past and the WSG have been a good outlet in experimenting with this.

Materials wise its acrylics watered down to create a watercolour style (i used to use water colours all the time, but miss the flexiability to layer that acrylic offers) and indian ink pens.

have you tried using actual acrylic inks?

I've never used them, but have seen some very beautiful work done with them

thats why no tau i suppose, but come to think of it i did just choose that most blatant topic relating to fanatic. I think a studying the 'greater good' fanaticism could be a cool and deep entry point for this weeks topic russ.

Thank you for the comments though.

Hey guys... there is life in it, yet... good to see some of the original sketchers return smile.gif

@ Birdie:
Very nice sketch, mate. Love the dynamic line-work and the colouring works well, too.
The pose is very sort of biblical, which goes rather well with the topic.

@ Striogi:
Great storytelling... as always. Not sure about the main guy in the last panel, though... his legs seem in the wrong place(s).
I really do love the top panel, though... especially the two guys carrying the stretcher.

As for mine, would've liked to spend a bit more time on it, but it wasn't to be. Anyway, I thought you don't get much more fanatical than the good old Inquisition... so here they are smile.gif

Schwager - I'm a huge fan of your picture! I like the character suggested by the piece.
