Hey guys - this week's topic actually comes from my girlfriend! It's a bit daunting at first, but I think you can really make it work. "The birth of plague" - well, first of all, identify just what your "plague" is. It could be literal, in which case I expect lots of ugly Nurgle-tastic entries!
It might seem tricky, but I'm super confident that you guys can come up with fantastic entries. In other news, half way through our 52 weeks, the top 10 standings for WSG Season 2 are as follows: #1 (Joint): Schwager (53 Points) #1 (Joint): Striogi (53 Points) #3: Tiuku (50 Points) #4: Easy E (33 Points) #5: Calamity (30 Points) #6: Dazz1286 (25 Points) #7 (Joint): BigFooT (24 Points) #7 (Joint): Kombat-Unit (24 Points) #7 (Joint): Tau's'ar'aww (24 Points) #10: Precinctomega (19 Points) Thank you to everyone who participates! |

Ok, it's not exactly what is stated at this WSG tittle, but I hope it's pretty close to it:
It is suppossed to be one handed hammer for some plague marine. The skull of plaguebringer attached on it gives it power to unleash some ammount of the disease or plague. The VII is the roman 7, Nurgle's sacred number. |

I couldn't find the time to make a page that fit in with the topic. For that matter, I didn't have time to do much art at all.

Hmm, not one of the most popular topics so far... what a shame. I for one felt very inspired and went all traditional on it

![]() Barely made it. This is not a good work though, but I'll like to share the idea with you guys. It may seem out of topic unless you read the necron codex which shows the necrons saying that chaos are the enslavers plague. I hope work doesn't kill my life so I can spend more time with my tablet. anyway, comments, Birdie: I can somehow feel your art, very concept art like and atmospheric. Bigfoot: Hehe, nice hammer there, the only thing's missing is the bearer himself! Striogi: Nomnomnom I say, and you made it kinda creepy to be with those cute critters. Well, not so cute anymore. Schwager: Very nice classic picture. I love the plaguefather himself, and what I really find the best in the picture is the legion under the father nurgle. It's been a long week for me at work, but for leisure I've got none, so please forgive my work if it isn't up to scratch as always. |

This topic was rather more lonely last night.
Anyway, I got an idea to do an Officio Medicae poster. I figured I'd run with it, and break out something a little different technique-wise. ![]() http://ragnarokeotw.deviantart.com/art/Ord...No-27-129215340 As always, it's not perfect, but I kinda like the way it's turned out, because the colour's got that muted look of WWII propaganda, which is pretty appropriate for what it is. |

I do have to admit that last night I was despairing a little! Thankfully you guys have saved the topic with some absolutely great entries. Though the topic's been a little quiet, fantastic art like this just underscores why Illuminatus is a great site.
Birdie - I think your work is really atmospheric and very cool - I especially like the texture and the tones in "she who thirsts". Really nice. It makes me think (in relation to the topic title) that forbidden texts and the like might be the seed that spreads the "plague" of corruption and chaos worship. BiGFooT: A really clever way of interpreting the topic title. After all, the Plague Hammer is a tool that a Plague Marine might utilise to bring plague to his enemies. I think that's really clever, and I like the use of the sacred number. I think the item could have perhaps done with more nurgle iconography, though. Striogi: Nurgle-infested Tyranids?! Now that's not a pretty thought at all! I like the rippers, you made them look cute and deadly at the same time. It's also a clever play on the title because the Rippers are responsible for consuming bio-matter so that more Tyranids may be consumed. In a way, they are responsible for "birthing" the "plague" that the Tyranids are! Schwager: Every week you produce a piece that makes me think "this is my favourite piece of yours so far!". I really like the details, and I imagine after I finish this post I'll go back to look for more! Kudos for producing a fantasy-related image, too. Russ: I like your style - the sad-looking C'Tan makes me laugh a great deal! Nice to see someone tackling Necrons in the WSG, though, we haven't really seen them in here for a while. MarcoSkoll: I like that you produced a piece which is relevant both then and now - especially with the fuss around Swine Flu at the moment. Col: Nice to see you around again - good luck with your endeavours! It might be five minutes' work, but I like how you've laid the groundwork for the Great Unclean One, and made him seem incredibly malevolent and menacing - suggesting a lot whilst showing us a little. Thank you to all of you for your efforts - you really made my day! I'll go update your points right now. WSG28 is due in about an hour and ten. |

There was a certain amount of inspiration from the swine flu leaflets. Although obviously, the NHS isn't in the habit of threatening you if you don't - appropriate for the Imperium though. I admit it's not exactly the birth of plague, but I felt it was close enough to have something about the control of disease.
Well, look at this! Appears we got here just in the nick of time. What does that make us? |
