Hey mate, you've definitely earned it. Your art has improved considerably and you've been a regular contributor for the last few months, so there Cut off time is anytime on Monday February 1st... you decide. |

Schwager: Yep, you just about got the gist of it. See, I'm still learning how to use Photoshop, and I've had ArtRage for a while, so I'm more comfortable with it. Besides, my desktop (which has ArtRage) has a bigger screen than my laptop, so there. Haha.

Haha, Schwager, you got me, I really suck at drawing hands. Because of the folds and the way it can actually look its pretty daunting and rather hard to draw. Anyway, thanks for the compliments!
For your comment, I think I prefer your sketches because they add a sense of depth to it. Maybe perhaps when you limit your time to a colored work, you limit your emotion to a piece of work. But that's my way of seeing it. Still, its a really nice work, although like you said its lacking a little 40k feel. And to Morbidi, your work is a little fuzzy at this point, and purportions a little off at the chest. But the color compliments the mood of the artwork! The dark eldar is captured well. Now we're lacking Striogi and Tiuku's girls. |

Thanks for the input guys, can definately see what you mean now that its pointed out... and no worries about being blunt Schwager, i find it preferable over being compromising when it comes to critique!

Awesome work, guys. I'm also pleased to see how much conversation has been going on - that's something I'm always really pleased to see going on in the WSG - as it helps us build a sense of community!
Feel free to post WIPs and such early in the week rather than waiting until the day of the deadline! I'm looking forward to seeing what the next topic is. |

Hehehe, Mol, I hope you'll continue to stay!
Anyway, here's another work, since I cannot NOT submit a work of an ethereal I grew to love. (My creation from someone. |

Well, the sketch was pretty literally a case of grabbing a pencil and taking 5 minutes to scrawl down what I had in my head to see if it was feasible. I've not got a brilliant intuitive sense for anatomy yet, but when some time (and probably my reference books as well) is available, I can usually mostly iron out mistakes. So, when it's a rough (and ultimately rather unimportant) concept sketch, I'm not going to be taking the same effort as on a sculpt that I'm going to be spending 20+ hours on. (And yes, I do generally expect to be spending anywhere from 20-30 hours actual work on each model.) It is at times frustrating that what I can manage on a 2" tall model can be better than what I can on drawings of several times the size, but that's the nature of the medium.
The coat will look a little out of place at the moment, because I've started adding folds to it*, which are somewhat absent from the rest of the model at this exact moment. As I start adding those extra details elsewhere, the whole thing should come together better.
*As a matter of fact, I've tried to do my best to keep it so that the width of the coat is the same the whole way down. While it curves behind holsters/scabbards that will be in place, the coat won't get narrower here - that width of material should still be shown in the folds. ~~~~~ The other participants will have to excuse my not giving feedback to them at this exact moment... There's still a heck of a lot for me to do, even if I'm trying to hit a deadline of sometime on Monday rather than midnight tonight. |

@schwager
Ta very much, the drawing was just a quick sketch I knocked out in between songs while I was DJ in on hospital radio. Been a bit busy with other artworks so did't have much chace to elaborate on it. I'll bear that in mind next WSG though |

![]() supposed to be some sort of 40k noblewoman. should have stuck with lineart on this one ^^ russ: the pose is great although i think she looks more human than eldar. Slanted eyes and higher cheeckbones gives them that alien feel. But i guess thats just my personal preference. ghillie: interesting concept i really like those tatoos on her thigh. alan: i actually find myself a little bit disgusted especially by her swollen and disgusting legs. althoug i miss the shading i think that would really have helped bringing forth her bloated state. good job! el presedente: i like her expression and tattos and i agree with schwager a litte shading couldnt hurt. chris jones: her chest/waist could have used more defining it kinda melts togheter with her cloak. other than that i think its a nicely done sister! 7skullz: good job i really liked that the flames reflect off her clothes. marcoskoll: looks really promising so far! morbidi: i really liked this one it has a mysterious mood to it. could use some work on anatomy though. schwager: nicely nice work, cool to see a coloured piece from you! i like the composition and the her haughty expression. yes all in all a great entry and it doesnt really have anything that i feel needs crits. tiuku: great concept that really has the 40k feel to it. and great pose on that last tau. |

Alright, I will be posting a topic soon, and hopefully it'll be just as popular.
The cut off time would be anywhere from today since its hard to pinpoint a specific time and I think my GMD is a minus, it would be rather unfair to most of you. Good work to all! |

Excellent work this round by all.
@ Schwager, I posted it here at Illuminatus: http://z4.invisionfree.com/illuminatus/ind...?showtopic=1154 You can download Starblade directly here: https://docs.google.com/fileview?id=0B-aXA8...zOTZjNjky&hl=en note: I advice to download the document and view it as a book. Thus start page 1, then page 2-3 next to eachother, then 4-5, etc. |

Schwager: Not overly critical at all man, I knew there were a lot of issues with this drawing, and I will pick up on them and try to get my anatomy rite for next time.
Your drawing this week is awesome, really like the use of colors and movement. |

11:30 on Monday Night...
![]() ... I'm not calling her completely finished. There are some things left to tweak, but damnit, that's most of the work there. And yes, she does look a little wonky on the base - during the last stage, the pin in her left foot broke off, which was a nightmare and a half to try and work around. I really need to use proper brass rod next time, not some flimsy cheapo wire. Aside from that point about armatures, I've learnt some very interesting things on this project. 1) I can just about sculpt a model inside a week. I started on Tuesday morning, and finished on Monday Night - even ignoring that I lost a day out of my schedule with the party (which I didn't sculpt at in the end). 2) I really shouldn't. |
