I tend to listen to music when I do just about anything. As to what I listen to, depends on my mood, and trust me, with over 500 cds and then some in mp3 format, I have plenty to choose from.

I listen to really loud things really. I don't listen to them loud but they are loud...if that makes sense. I listen to christian rock most of the time.
Skillet and Castin Crowns and Tobymac. Then I like songs like Getting away with murder- by poppa roach and some nickleback songs. The last two are mostly because I like the music not the words. Although Getting away with murder is good to listen to when I am mad.

Listening music usually helps get inspired so I do it very often. I usually listen something heavy or a bit gothic music though rock could go also and ofcourse melancholic music(well most finn's do listen melancholic music, like CMX(you don't know it I believe?)).
The bands I usually listen are the 69eyes(anyone ever heard?), Apocalyptica, Nightwish(sadly they kicked the singer out, really sad. sad.gif ) and some other odd finnish bands...

If i have a choice it would be anything from hard rock/ metal through to Cafe Del Mar style dance and pretty much anything in between as long as it isn't modern pop pap stuff, my real true joy though is stuff like Sisters of Mercy and the Mission and similiar.

I tend to listen to Motion Picture Scores over anything else, though If I want to get really dark I bust out the Tool. I also like electronic music for somethings, but really anything with a full orchestra and hopefully a full chorus gets me pumped. Oh, and just for the record, one of the best scores ever written and a must have for any fantasy/sci-fi artist is the score to Conan the Barbarian. wub.gif

I listen mostly to brittish alternative(esque) music...with additions of bands like slipknot, System of a Down and so on....angry and angsty music...seems to work best for me.

Moloko is good. Belgian band. Has a few european-wide hits..

Not directly art creator in the illuminatus sense here but I do write a lot and have a lot of projects going/finished.

I tend to get inspired by TooL and Nightwish.
