I'd like there to be a resurrected KWSG. I'd even organise it, if we could ensure that people were interested and would participate. (In other words - if you're interested, post here saying so!)
It would just be a shame to start it up and get no response! |

I am interested. I would even be willing to run it myself.
I found it useful and fun and a great opportunity for less talented folks like me to get some practice in. |

Certainly, KTWSG was a fine way to chuck ideas about & have a bit of a practice at strange new things, even though I didn't often engage myself. I'd certainly like another crack at it.

Alright - this Monday (the 5th of January) is the first Monday of 2009, so I'll resurrect and revitalise the KWSG. I dearly hope people will participate! Try to encourage everyone you know to take part.

The first sketch-group of 2009 is up here. Please participate! Tell everyone you know! I'm hoping this doesn't fall through.

Something new I'm going to put up - the Weekly Sketch Group League Table!
For participating in the WSG you get a point - at the end of the year (WSG #52) the person with the most points will be crowned the Illuminatus WSG Champion! Then you can have bragging rights, lord it over others, etc, etc. Perhaps we can change your user title or give you a fancy signature. I'll be posting up the League Table in the WSG forum today. EDIT: I've put up the league table/scoreboard here, and after a bit of thought I've changed the rules. For participating in the WSG during that week, you get 2 Points - if you go back later and participate in a WSG after it's "finished", you get 1 Point. That way you could still go back and do earlier topics to try to get your points up! |

That's awesome... I've been wanting to get something done for last week's round. Now I just might
Seriously though I think it's a great idea. Nothing like a little incentive to get us lazy (which is of course a myth) artists off our bums. Keep up the good work! |

That's what I figured - it gives an incentive to revisit the older sketchgroups, and any activity is good activity if it's getting you (lazy

Good idea that. Personally I find that getting the ball rolling and actually starting to do some sketching is the hardest part. A blank piece of paper can be a scary thing. After that first sketch step I find it much easier as I have something to improve upon or play with.
Anyway, the league table idea will certainly help ME engage more with the topics outside of my comfort zone. Its a nice positive little push in the right direction |

This is a great idea to get more peeps involved in the KWSG!
I only wish I had the time to join in as often as I used to when this all first started. |

Cheers ComMol! I'm going to try and post as much work as I can here but I am trying to diversify away from GW fan-art. |

Okay then, here's another idea how you could make the WSG (even) more interesting.
When posting a topic you could also add some requirements for the format to the brief. For example, you might want people to come up with a concept for a new miniature. This could require several options, front and back views, and such things. Another one could be for a book illustrations and might take into account certain format restrictions (vertical or horizontal), might require a background or to blend into the page in one side. You know, just some ideas to get people thinking about how to best approach the subject. I just think that this might steer submissions more into a general direction, without compromising artistic license too much. After all this is a competition (of sorts) and also works great as a test and practise platform for professionals and those who might aspire to be. Who knows, this site might even attract potential clients at some point. The same format could also be applied to other challenges... or not, depending on your liking Cheers, Christian |
