Title: Army Comp.
Description: How armies are built

Hello, i was wondering if its just me do players get an additude when you build an army the way its supposed to be. An example is of course Iron Warriors. If you have the option to have three squads of obliterators and four heavy support choices and you use them all, then all of a sudden you have a cheesy list. I was wondering if i'm the only one that feels this way?
<_<

There's really no such thing as a cheesy list...

However...I know that personally...I would not enjoy playing against your list. The entire game is going to consist of me trying to hide from your weapons or you blasting away at me. My return fire is going to be like tossing a stick at the sky for raining.

Remember...Eldar have the option to take three wraithlords in 750 points...but they don't have to. Necrons have the option to take a c'tan in 500 points, but they don't have to. Guard have the option to take three basilisks in a combat patrol, but they don't have to. IWs have the option to take 9 oblits and four heavy support choices in any amount of points possible, but it doesn't mean we have to. For the most part, all of the above won't make for an enjoyable game for both players.

did i see the word Cheesy?
Now let as all sit back and wait for IP to flame the hell out of all of us! (i do agree with him though)

Ok just because the rules say that we can take three squads of oblits and four heavys , it doesn't mean We have to have fill the squads and heaps of ordinance. I actually never use more than or four oblits (I don’t have more anyway), but I do take advantage of the rules by splitting them up between several squads…. And thats fine. Same with the heavy support, only two of them are pie – plates…. And don’t forget that we lose 2 fast attack in the process.
The bottom line is, if GW put it in the rules, it cant be THAT bad

Damn right because "comp" is a bad thing, why should armies be resticted just because they have "powerful" squads. End of the day have ANY of you lot thought on how easy it is to make a codex with rules that will please everone & rules that will be fun etc... as in the words of Chimaira the band, we make music for our self, of course we are not going to please everone. As for the flaming part.. not ture, be flaming if a argue with someone, but being a mod that a bad exsample to led by. I just find it unfair that people get called names like: cheesy, beardy, powergaming. Why should something get call a name just because they took 18 man Eldar seer consile, in my eyes that bullying because there not take somthing that say play A might not like nor think of any tactics & they force there oppnet to drop that "powerful" squad by calling it names.

But as evilquail said, just because somthing is there you do not need to take it. End of the day armies list making should be stuff YOU like. So some people like myself do enjoy take 4x Heavy Support with 4x Preds, so what as said I enjoy it & my oppent like the challege. But other may like to take more troops, end of the day your army, your money.

As said if it was "TO" powerful GW would of change it ASAP. Why do we not have primarchies... because they would be "to" powerful, maybe have them but for 3000+. That why in codex it say take 1+ or 0-1.

As I have said a million times, you should NOT judge the army, it the gamer who should be judge because they can be gits who give one word answer & never look you in the eye & argue/cheat, while a great oppent will talk to you about anything really. This is why any bad games I have against a git, that will be there first & last game against me, while those who are alright to game against I'd be happy to fight them any time, I never judge a army unless there somthing wrong with the list (like miss added).

Last thing being, what is balance anyway???, can anyone truly define what is a balance army???? my view it is a army that is able to handel any army with little to no change, has a good amount of fire power both anit tank & hordes, close combat & mobilty. That what I think make a balance army & able to do the mission that hand of course. I say this about "define balance" because a lot people say it troops, I see armies like Alpha Legions & Drop Troop Guards yet they get called that "cheese/beary" word... why??? Alpha Legion get 50 Marines in 1500pts, maybe more, Drop Troop Guards get 150+ models... but the reason they get called bad name is because AL can Infty which is part there background, Drop Troopp Guards because they can deep stike.

End of the day I'd rather & more than happy will fight both these armies because with the Guards w/Drop Troop you have no idear where the will be... so you have to be careful for the first few turns. Alpha Legion can ether set right up next to you or far away, who know but you have to set up to stop them getting say the rear armour of a tank.

Remember folks if you don't like gaming against a army, rememeber you are NOIT force to play them, but you miss out on a change to improve your tactics.

Rememeber to make a army list YOU like, as said in the army part now & then, I can come up with over 100 diffrent combos for any army, but how do I know "if" they work for you until you try it in battle. Alway play test armies.

Right, I think IP's and my views on these 'Cheese' topics are very clear. This is closed, and if we see anymore, they are closed. Without notice.

Remember, its YOUR list, or THEIR lists, if you can't beat it, it's your problem, if GW put it there, its how its supposed to be.
