Well everywhere I have posted a list people have told me to dump any raptors. Now I have only been including than as a 5 man squad with nothing all that special so I'm guessing either raptors suck or 5 of them is to small a unit.

Am I right? Is a 10 man raptor squad worth it or not? I'm thinking of doing a ten man squad using two boxes of loyalist assault marines, normal CSM heads and chests and such then Berserker legs and chain axes but I don't wanna make such a costly unit if I'm not gonna use it much.

I might end up going to GW today in which I hoped to pick up any kits I need for the next while since I HATE going shopping during December but I'm not gonna buy the second box of loyalist assault marines and the berserkers without a better idea of the usefulness of Raptors.

I don't think they suck at all. I love them as a counter attacking units within my own lines, I can't think of another squad which is as flexible for this role.

Two special weapons without required for ten models, check.
Highly mobile infantry unit, check.
Expendible if necessary to slow down nasties, check.

I would tend to not use them offensively if they are under 8 models however as by the time you get there I'm not sure how many will be left!

Five or six man squads acting as sweepers are great. ^_^

Just as I thought. I think I'll put together my ten man unit of them now and hope it gets reasonable use outside of apoc games.

In 10 man units how are they as an assault wave in apoc games? I have ten of the metal versions I grabbed on ebay a while back and while I need to replace the second lightning clawed sergeant for sure I wanted to use them in a Night Lords Detachment army which I'm thinking of basing around assault units primarily for massed assaults in apoc games.
