Title: Any Epic vets out there??

Insane Psychopath - January 27, 2009 07:26 PM (GMT)
Hi everone

Epic has started to pick up a little bit that my Local GW & like so many other thing this has been a game I wanted to get into, but problem being in my old GW it was rarely played & I had to many stuff going on.

Anyway to the point, with Epic pick up & with me almost finish my Iron Hands force in two weeks (buying wise).
I am thinking of taken a little break from new project, however would like to make a start on my Epic force.

Few question are....

- How many point in total do you get in a box of Chaos Marine's (I am aim for a Iron Warriors theme to be my IW 5th Grand Company)
- What unit are good in the chaos force
- What Titain (sp) are good & if I was luck to get my hands on a Imperator Titan (plastic Titan release year ago & I mean year well before I started the hobby 12 year ago) can that still be use in Epic games.

I think I will start my project as of Tue in two week. Once I have everthing sorted.

This reply is REALLY late, but I do have an apoc IW army. Sorry I bought most of my stuff off a guy really cheap so I can't give you costs.

I also do have an Imperator titan... I LOVE him so much. A guy was getting rid of his extra bits for charity and we all got to bid. I had just started my chaos epic army so I went for it and the only veteran Imperial Epic player already had one so it was an easy bid. Sometimes I field him as a dreadnought in 40k. There is a particular scenario just for Imperator titans in epic. I can't remember if it has a cost associated with it, the scenario was just kill the Imperator titan.

Favorite units. Well my epic army ended up being a recreation of my 40k army. My army was really split into 2 big formations. 1 drop podding on the enemy while the other was very vehicle heavy and advanced towards the enemy while laying down a wall of fire.

Formation 1. Lots of rhinos, predators, vindicators, defilers, fast moving super heavies, and LRs. I build defilers by taking old epic juggernauts and using thin metal pipe I added 6 legs and then mounted small pipes to represent the battle cannon and autocannons. The super heavy unit that ran with these formations were death wheels. Read the stat lines for them, they are pretty nasty. I took terminator bases and glued them together to make big rolling disks. Then I would shave off the bottom so they will sit upright on a base. Finally I took bike wheels and put each side of the wheel on the sides of the disks. So I ended up with big disks riding around that have a big ball covered in guns in the middle.

Formation 2. Now I also have a gothic fleet so I took ships and drop podded/teleported in bezerkers, terminators, obliterators, a demon prince, and dreadnoughts on my enemy. The nice thing about this is that the ships can unleash carnage at the same time. I really didn't have a lot of anti titan units so I would normally have the ships focus their deadliest fire on enemy titans. And I drop podded a LOT. My smaller ship could drop pod/teleport 20 units, my bigger 40 units.

Thanks for the tip/help IronWind

Epic on hold a little bit but I will get this army done.

Also I mange to get my hands on the Imperator Titan in the end for a mere £22. It was not over the top with paint which was great so easy to re-paint.
While the rest are going for £120+ on ebay & look more like a blob than a model.

Right now I got the Imperator Titan & a box of Chaos hordes?? Once I get a bit more monry going to try & get some more stuff like Rhino, more boxies of chaos warrior.

Just right now the Space Wolves are all full ahead for this year tournament scene :D

No Epic veteran, just a -possible- Epic rookie wondering about some things;

can one field Titan Battlegroups in Epic?

Example; a army list consisting of 1 Emperor, 3 Warlords, 4-5 Reavers and 2-4 warhounds.

What version of Epic are you using? There have been four versions, each has very different approaches to armies.

1st Edition - Space Marines and Adeptus Titanicus (interestingly AT is now available in various forms for free)

2nd Edition - Space Marine, Titan Legions and various expansions. Now evolved into NetEpic

3rd Edition - Epic 40000

4th Edition - Epic Armageddon.

Personally my favourite was second edition. I now play NetEpic as it offers the greatest level of flexbility.

Emperor Titans have lost a lot of the flavour they originally had and it's very difficult to field them in armies now in 4th edition. If you want to try and play them to their full potential (with rather complex but powerful stats) go to netEpic

You can field battlegroups of titans in 2nd and 4th editions easily.

In 4th you need to go to tactical command and find the titan legions rules created there, it's a community document so no official rules.

For second edition you can buy Titan Legions or download NetEpic and it has complete rules for whole titan battlegroups.

using second edition rules you'd end up with two company cards, 1 special card and a number of support cards depending on how you wanted to field the hounds and spare reavers. would be around 6k points I think.

Rules - What ever the newest one is. I not had time to focuse on epic yet due to real life & money side of things.
But what ever the current rules are, rarely play with out dated/older rules.

Is a Imperator Titan not diffrent from a Emperor Titan???

Also how do army list work for this, again had little time to fully focuse on check the rules, etc... but just want to know how army list work for this (40k you got 1 HQ & 2 troops) & like wise how many points is in one box of Chaos Hoards???

Imperator is a VARIANT of the Emperor CLASS, dear IP.. ;)

Imperator; Mobile Command Centre
Warmonger; Gun Platform

If I remember correctly, I do believe Blackadder posted an Adeptus Titanicus .pdf file on Dakkadakka conserning these two Titans ruleswise..

I'll see if I can find the Thread later...
