I am about to start working on a Lieutenant in terminator armor. He will be in charge of the other terminators doing siege warfare, thinking along the lines of anti-armor, wall breaching, and bunker busting. For weapons I will give him a chain fist and combi-melta. Model wise I am going to use the plastic lord, no cape, as a base, convert one leg to be bionic, use the loyal terminator helmet with the bionic eye, and give him a servo arm. I think i will leave of the trophy racks mainly because seams they would get in the way if you where trying to get into a hole in the side of a wall or what have you. I was just wondering what else I might be able to do to make him a little more Iron Warriorish.

I will try to post WIP pics here but it will be a slow process because this will be a project I work on while on lunch at work.

Well I have a defiler that I have been converting since July 2007, but I did drop the hobby until recently just because I have been too busy.

What you have described would be IW, at least in my eyes. Sometimes its not about going 100% over the top, painting and such also pulls to the effect of what an iron warrior really is. Not to mention pose and other things. Little effects such as battle damage is another good means to having that 'siege' feel.

Battle damage is a must, a "I'm going to blow a hole in your wall with my sheer awesomeness" pose, and perhaps som additional armour plating..

Make the chainfist a Big Daddy-style drill. Integrate the combi-melta into his other gauntlet in the same way one of the older Chaos Lord minis did.

He won't be getting a big daddy drill, that's a little too over budget. I started on the bionic leg; unfortunately I can only able to fit one piston inside his lower leg but it still looks good. After the glue drys I will try to make his foot look bionic.

And I'd be horrified to hear if you'd chopped up a Big Daddy just to get one. Try using the nozzle from something as a base, be it a sauce squeeze bottle or a tube of super-glue, and scratchbuild your way up from there.

Picture Time.

Just the legs for now. I need to clean up some of the filing work and putty the leg joint when I buy some more green stuff.

A good start to be sure, just needs some file loving to clean it up a bit (besides green stuff of course)

Well I finished what I can until I get a little cash flow. Still need to buy green stuff and a servo arm. I am going to try and put an Iron Warrior symbol on his right shoulder pad. for this I was going to us a skull from the Defiler Nurgle icon and us green stuff to sculpt the bottom of the skull to look like the Iron Warrior symbol. If it turns out good I will make a mold of it so I can use it on other guys. I will try and take some pictures of him when I get home tonight and update this.

Well sculpting an Iron Warrior Symbol from the skull failed. It was just too small for me to sculpt any details on, I could get the bottom half looking nice but only enough room to put two of the vertical slots. Next up I will make a mold from an Iron Warrior shoulder pad, and try to make a thin cast that I can glue onto his shoulder pad. If that fails then a transfer is my last resort, just cant free hand good enough.

I went to my FLGS this weekend but they did not have any techmarines with servo harnesses in so no servo arm yet, going to try again on Friday. In the mean time I am working on his retinue, 5 termies with combi-meltas and 2 chain-fists, 3 powerfists. Nothing really special about them other than 4 of the guns are converted do to lack of combi-meltas. Think I will give the champion a servo arm too and keep that as a running theme in my army.

On a side note what is a good way to add a little bit of rubble to a base? I was thinking of cutting up a sprue, that could give the impression of some small supports or chunks of a wall. I would want the look of something haven been blown up, not fall down in sections so just small bits and pieces.

Well I had finished my squad but do not like how the Iron Warrior symbol came out, to thick, so I am working on a second batch for my squad and will be placing a shoulder pad behind the mold and greenstuff to get them thinner. Starting work on my next squad and was wondering what special weapon, if any would complement an auto cannon best for gunning down infantry? Right now its just going to be a 10 man CSM squad modeled with bolters, Champion will have a combi-bolter, on guy will get an auto cannon and not sure about the special weapon.

I can't recommend single lightning claws.
either go cheap with power weapon or go power fist.
I'd never take more than one chain fist per squad, I'd make that guy a champ though.
