Hello everyone,

With BFG gaining momentum at my LGS (Again....) im looking into starting a chaos fleet to go with my ork fleet. A couple of players are planning to do a planetary empires campaign with BFG games included.

Ive decided to build a Iron warriors themed fleet, i was wondering if anyone else had a Chaos fleet (Particularly a Iron warriors fleet). What are your experiences with Chaos fleets? Ive only played against them once and the chaos fleet thoroughly trounced my orks.

Id love to see pictures of your fleets as well, i could use some motivation to start mine.

Ill mess around with a list and post it soon.

Pardon the double post, i figured id toss up a quick list. I ended up making a 2000 pt list since i couldn't fit all the goodies i wanted in 1500 pts rolleyes.gif .

Iron Warriors 3rd grand company battle fleet- 2000 pts

Iron warriors Battle barge- Chaos Warlord upgrade (1 re roll), 45cm Prow lance upgrade (470)

Murder class cruiser (170)
Murder class cruiser (170)
Devastation class cruiser (190)
Devastation class cruiser (190)
Carnage class cruiser (180)
Carnage class cruiser (180)
Carnage class cruiser (180)
Carnage class cruiser (180)

Raider squadron- 2 Infidel raiders (80)

Total- 1990

The basic concept with this fleet is it will form 3 'battle groups', Battle group 'A` will consist of the Battle barge and the 2 murders. This battle groups job will be to sit back around 45cms and hammer the opponents fleet with lance fire. The battle barge is able to launch 8 flights per turn, this allows me a nice mix of offensive bombers and defensive fighters. Battle groups `B` and `C` will consist of 2 Carnage class cruisers and 1 Devastation class cruiser. This battle groups will deploy on either flank and their job is to close with the enemy fleet and hammer them with broadsides under a fighter escort from the Devastation class. the 2 Infidels will loiter around and fire off the odd torpedo salvo. They can also suicide on enemy ordinance if im desperate enough.

The idea with this list is each battle group is able to act totally independent of each other, i didn't want a list that would fall apart with the loss of a single ship. The battle barge and murders can launch murderous salvos (pardon the pun) from their lance battery's. Assuming im within 45cms, this battle group can fire a amazing 11 lance shots per turn. The only thing better then this would be if the murders lances were dorsal mounted, if so i could have fired 11 lance shots and str 20 weapons battery salvo plus a str 6 salvo. Ho hum laugh.gif
