I'm designing a mega battle for the group in my area to play in. The idea is an Imperial excavation force has discovered an underground city and called for help to secure it and multiple groups picked up the call. So now groups are coming to either assist or defeat the Imperials and take their new find. The game is gonna be played on two tables with one battle above ground and the other underground. There will be twelve players with 3,000 points a piece and limit of one datasheet and special character per player.
The win conditions are standard per Apocalypse and each army will be issued a special unit to help them in the battle. So what do you guys think? All ideas are welcome. -------------------- Fear is a burden for lesser men. We are not lesser men. We are Iron Warriors.

If I don't see Necrons swarming out of those underground ruins, I'm going to be a mite upset...

Well there are two or three Necron folks around here, maybe we can get them to play. It'd be fluffy and cool.

I'm actually hoping to see the Black Templars show up to the fight, like the Imperial Fists but with some gonads and more zeal.

A special unit to help each player? What like a house-rules unit, or just a free unit?

House rules mainly. I plan on giving an Imperial Player a Techpriest Arch-Magos and his bodyguard and if there is a second one I'm gonna give them an Inquisitor and his retinue. I usually break some of the rules to make those units a little better than standard, like crossing henchmen between the two ordos books or dredging up old rules and the like.
I'm not entirely sure what I'm doing for the Forces of Disorder yet, I'm gonna wait and see what armies everyone is playing. -------------------- Fear is a burden for lesser men. We are not lesser men. We are Iron Warriors.

Ooh, I'd personally include some Daemons from the Forge of Souls. Basicaly a large pact of Daemons, mainly made up of Soul Grinders, who offer all souls and scrap they collect to the Forge. If a Daemon has a weapon, chances are the Forge made it, all Soul Grinders are created there, and all must swear allegiance to the Forge over all others.
And if they find an excavation site, I wouldn't be suprised if the Forge sent a few of it's Daemons there. Maybe using Bloodletter rules for some, or Bloodcrushers (has armour at least...) and so on... -------------------- |

Like some ancient Daemon Machines one of the groups got a hold of to use or something like that. I like it! That's a good one, thanks.

will the two tables be interconnected? I mean can units enter tunnels on the surface to get onto the underground table? and are you going to be restricting the strategic assets? Will this big game be taking place in Michigan by any chance? it sounds awesome. another idea for the evil special character could be a rogue tech priest, kind of like in "Dark Adeptus" you could use simmilar rules to the good guy version, which would make balancing easier. Or you could bring up Ahriman with some kind of super bodyguard unit. This sort of thing sounds like something he would come out for.

Ahriman has a big super bodyguard unit. Warcover of Tzeentch or something...
It's him, and up to 10 aspiring sorcerers. And then as many squads of terminators as tzeentch as you want. It's somewhere on the GW site under apocalypse; and you can sacrifice the aspirings for free orbital bomardments. ...but yeah. Ahriman should definately be in that game, as it seems like a very Ahriman-ish thing to be at. -------------------- ![]() Credit to Kharne. Both battles will be connected, Ahriman may just have to make an appearance if I can get hold of one of him and paint him up. The stratagems are going to be normal except certain ones can't affect the below ground fight, such as orbital bombardment or any kind of bombardment really.

Ooh, yeah Ahriman with a Thousand Sons bodyguard would work well, especialy if you can get a unit of Rubic Terminators converted up. And plus I think the Thousand Sons Warcoven's Storm of Change would work underground too...

A friend of mine plays Thousand Sons (I'm no longer the only Chaos Warlord around here) and is just getting them up and ready and if he plays I'll tell him he can take Ahriman for free. I'm really hoping for some great moments in this one, especially in defense of the landing zone. I'm still not sure what the rest of the armies are yet but I'll for sure clue you guys in so you can help with some ideas. So far all the input has been great.
