well monkey everyone has their own choice. i use red and black. i paint small one in a dark red to add interest in dull areas. black for the big ones like on back packs and the power cables on the body. then simply lightly over brush the hose giving a controled drybrush affect. i choose this cause i dont want my model to overwhelmed by outside color. there iron warriors not wordbearers. but thats my take. i like dull not flashy.

I like to use red, green and blue. in that descending order.
you can't use only one colour, because it would be overwhelming, you need to have contrasts.
