The 8th Grand Company Rises, Again....

Greetings my Iron Brothers! I've been itching to restart my Iron Warriors ever since I heard a new Codex was on the horizon, and seeing this forum gain a second wind has made it much worse. I haven't bought anything GW in 2 years, and haven't played Iron Warriors in much longer. So here I am, starting a new army. Below is what I'm currently aiming for, units marked with a are ones I have bought and painted.

I am retconning the fluff of my previous incarnation of the 8th, where my Warsmith was fused with Necron tech, and my Sorceror being obsessed with combining the Techno Virus (Obliterator Virus for the newer guys) and Necrodermis, the Necron's Living Metal. But, I still want the Virus to be a big feature of the army. As for the list itself, I'm keeping it fairly generic for now, I don't want to do anything outlandish enough that when the new Codex drops it'll be invalid.

So, without further ado, here is the 2000 point list I'm currently working towards.

Why the plasma pistol on the powerfist champ?
Also not sure if the havoc launcher is the best option
On the defiler, why not an extra dccw?
Saves u some points aswell.

Plasma Pistol was more something I stuck on at the last minute, model's already built and painted. It's a habit I'm breaking, having Plasma Pistols on Champions, maybe at some point I'll go cut his hand off and replace it, but for now at least...

Havoc Launcher, I'm hoping they'll be better in the next Codex, I'm planning on that Defiler being an upright one, and the idea of a shoulder-mounted Havoc Launcher just looks so cool, plus it's a mere handful of points, it's not going to ruin the Defiler one way or another.

i know what your saying bout building your army and then it being unusable. right now im just building tactile squads and rhinos. see what new goodies we get when we get it. and what we lose.

Naming everything's one of my favourite parts of the hobby. At some point I might post my Hammers of Dorn list, both the complete 5th Company I have, and the whole Chapter list...

But yeah, I was going to have the Terminators all armed with Combi-Meltas, but I don't know if the whole squad will be able to take them in the next Codex. Thankfully the speed at which I build this army, the new book may well be out before I get to those parts...

Next week I'm looking at buying Omada Myron, or a Rhino, if I jig the points a bit.

Seems sweet. I am very interested in seeing how the decimators fares in combat.

I am also going to go the same route with keeping stuff simple. I'm just going to buy marines and transports since there shouldn't be too much of a change in them.

Your fluff is also great. I have been wondering if fusing with necrodermis would be beneficial to Iron Warriors.

I'm torn.

Tomorrow, I'm getting some extra money (yay!), so should I be sensible and buy a box of Chaos Space Marines, and build Omata Myron, or be a bit ambitious, a bit silly, and get a box of Chaos Terminators to convert up Exaleipsi Phyrros?

I can't play until I have 2 Troops and a HQ, but the HQ will be a fairly involved conversion which I can't do yet, so using the army will be a while off I think...

So, sensible, or fun?

Ah, wish list has 11. Including Warsmith, and 6 converted into Obliterators, which was the plan... I've got a few leftover weapons, some green stuff, make it look like the Techno-Virus is making them more powerful, but not consumed by it, like the current models look like.

If you're anxious to game, I'd say get the marines.

If you can spare some time and want to work on making awesome minis, get those Termies! *I would've told you to do that in the first place...I don't know why but I love TDA.

I also smiled when I saw you want 11 terminators. Reminded me of my dream Sons of Malice terminator army.

Well, modelling wise, I was thinking for the Obliterators to have them rather restrained. Like they are in control of the Virus, where the current Obliterator models look like they are being consumed by it. I was going to keep them rather plain, get rid of most of the iconography as well, keep a Power Fist free, and for the other hand, have it as transformed into one of the guns they can use. Of course, green stuff some more fleshy bits here and there, but for the most part, it's focused on their gun arm. And seeing as I want 6 Obliterators, and there are 6 ranged weapon options, have one modelled with a Lascannon, one with a Multi-Melta, one with a Plasma Cannon, one with a twin-linked Plasma Gun, one with a twin-linked Meltagun and one with a twin-linked Flamer...

I like your ideas. From my recent list idea, and considering the use of Obliterators, I have been wondering about conversions too. What I personally want to do is this. Making them stand upright like that, plus adding length to the arms makes them all the more menacing and closer to the artwork of Obliterators from the previous codex that looked awesome.

I didn't end up buying anything, but I remembered I bought some Terminators a while ago, that never got finished. So, out comes the bits box, glue and green stuff, and I've got some Obliterators all finished up. I'm getting some photos done later for a new thread over in Muster Your Forces I'll be making.

Got three painted up, another two converted, waiting until I buy another box of Terminators to finish that second squad up. But next thing on my shopping list is a box of regular Chaos Marines, I've been silly, now I need to be sensible!

Had to make a change. According to the most recent rules for the Decimator, I can't dedicate it to any God without an Independent Character with the same Mark. So for now, the Dedication's been removed. Also, I've changed the loadout, as much as I like the Storm Laser/Heavy Conversion Beamer idea, I think 2 Butcher Cannons sounds more fun

Yes, I have 30 points to play with, any ideas?
