da club shindig and hoe down, bring yer own jug

alright some of us members have discussed this, and im sure many of you have talked about it before our time here. but the gist of this thread im actually contributing to brother Thanatos Ares, hes the most recent one to bring it up and i think he does have a good idea.

the idea is to get as many of us members together in one place. not sure of the purpose, that should be discussed. my idea is a big cookout but thats my answer to everything lol.

ok what do you members feel about this subject. if enough like it where would this meeting be, we all live spread out over the globe and have conflicting schedules, so this would be hard.

i know that many of you are quite young, and would need your parents with you. truely i find the idea unfair to you but id like your input as well. you are members of this board and as such your input is as important and valued as much as any other member outside of the administrators.

speaking of administrators this is up to them. they run this board and they should have the final say on this. if they think its great then we should direct planning to them for final say so. this is for an official club meeting, and i consider this an extended club not just a board forum. if they say no then no questions or whinning its dropped and forgotten.

so that being said i feel its a good start on the planning of the first official meeting of the members of the iron warriors 4th grand chaptor!!! or just an excuse for a really big barbeque shindig lol!!!

so lets hear it!! your ideas for it or even if you think its a horrible idea. you voicing your opinion on it being a bad idea may be the right one after all.

i would very much be in favour of a big ole shindig!!
after spending a few years lurking on a few other forums concerning various armys - one idea i like the most but which reuires alot of planning would be an organised apocalypse style game over a weekend at GW HQ in nottingham (plenty of local hotels etc, plus if we booked/rang in advance we good reserve a decent set of tables/scenary)
problems - travel to venue - opponents? i drive and would be able to pick people up and travel up to nottingham for those in the south of the UK - even pick up fellow 4th company folk who would need picking up from airports if they flew to sunny old England

we could make it a weekend event - maybe even an annual one!!

what do you guys/gals think?

hey im always up for good shin dig, id have to fly in and no nothing about how to get around there. the last post about me is you know that jesseye guy, he tried driving across england on the wrong side of the road lol.

id have to know well in advance to get me and the old lady vacation time at the same time. make travel plans, you know save the dough for the trip. im surprised shes up for it lmao.


however im looking at it like this, theres alot of us here in the states i dont know how many of us would actually be able to make the trip, it would take alot of planning.

Well we'll need an opponent, for which I can bring like 4,000 points of Space Marines...

at the moment im not commiting to anything, but i still feel its a great idea. take pics and start a community thread with pics of members getting together. i think it would add a community vibe that most other boards lack

I'm thinking maybe next year? With the board being fairly quiet as well at the moment, try and have the one date in GWHQ? Next year would hopefully give our American cousins time to sort things out should they wish to fly over the pond?

Oh I know the logistics of it will be a nightmare. Organising hotels, if we go ahead with this, I'll be posting what information I can find on facebook, links to cheaper hotels if need be. Plus if anyone is flying in, we gotta organise that, plus allow time for jetlag (because 40K isn't fun then!), and actually reserving a table...
