Gay Marriage? Sure, why not? To me, it's not different than a ''normal'' marriage.
People who complain about it should think before they act. I mean, do they have to see it? No! Do married gay couples hurt them? No.
What's better, a gay man marrying a woman just because he cannot marry a man and they divorce after a year, or two gay men marrying and being together forever?
In my opinion: go ahead and marry who you want, you can't stop love :)

For it.

But don't live in a dream where all gay marriages are going to last forever. I'd think that they'd last a little better than regular marriage, but just because of all the pressure to prove that gay marriage works. Over time, I'm sure that gay arriage will have the same divorce rate(or damn close) to straight marriage.

So, let them get married, and let them adopt children.

Equal rights.

If you don't like it for religious purposes, fine. But don't deny someone else their rights.

I'm all for it. And I'm tired of the religious zealots trying to impose their beliefs on others.

i am in favor of it. i can see why some don't want it to be specifically titled "marriage," due to the religious connotations. gays and lesbians don't much care if it's called marriage or civil union, though.

as a clarification, could you tell me the religious connotations of marriage?
i know i dont know them ^_^

it seems like the term has become secular though

i think marriage or civil union or whatever should be the choice of the couple instead of the choice of the state
i'm not sure how anything otherwise would make sense

I'm all in favor of the continued separation of Church and State. "Marriage" is a religious practice, let the churches deal with it instead of the goverment breaching their mandate and dictating what the Church can and cannot do.

I am sorta a 'No-Comment' on it.. I mean, I am not for it, but am not against it. Like, I won't go out marching in a Gay Rights parade but I also won't go out and stone a gay couple either. So I guess I am leaning towards the 'For It' side.. ^_^

"Marriage" is a religious practice

You nailed it. So since gays can be religious THEY too can have the right on how to define it. Not some conservative Christian president ignoring the seperation of church and state.

I have a friend who's Native American and is working on getting the state of Missouri to recognize his marriage. Missouri refuses to recognize it because they won't recognize his tribe as a real religious body. To me, that's the same thing as the whole gay marriage thing. My friend is married, but the government is just discriminating based on his religion.

really? i have a gay friend that lives in portland and i just talked to him the other night and hadn't heard anything about this.

anyhow, as others have said, marriage is a religious practice and religions really have no obligation to treating people equally. if the term "civil union" is used instead, the whole "marriage is between a man and a women" bit doesn't really apply.

I am in agreeance with this statement.

I am against gay marriage. However, I don't hate gays or lesbians. They are people too. I just cannot agree with their lifestyle choice.

I'm not gay, but i have nothing against those who are. I'd just let 'em do their thing.

Regardless of anyone's views on homosexuality, EVERYONE has the right to be with the person they love and to have their union recognized. Everyone should also have the right to adopt children and have BOTH parents be their legal parents.Read more
