You can buy xanthan gum powder at some grocery stores and health food stores (I found it at Market Basket). It cost about $11 and lasts 6-12 months. My daughter is on honey thick and I use approx 1 tsp per 32 oz. This is the same thickening agent in Simply Thick. The only down side is you will need to use a blender to mix it. Shaking it doesn't work. I got a hand held blender and I make a whole days worth and put it in the fridge. It will keep in the fridge for 2 days. We still keep some Simply Thick packets around incase we are out or if we need to make just one small cup. Otherwise we use the xanthan powder and we have saved a ton of money!
