slowfade - November 2, 2011 01:14 PM (GMT)
I always liked these and wanted to buy one for years, like this one on this link,
ebay push button starter link

Anyone got one fitted ? it says its quite easy on that link? and seem to sold alot!, guess fitting it is only thing stopping me from buying it seeing im not good with all this electrics but after seeing a friend getting it fitted to his Mazda Astina in Hong Kong i really want one! i know toyota does a JDM option for the altezza but that probably rare and expensive !
Thoughts on these ?

Have a speak to Adam (Peanut) Pretty sure hes got it all sorted out now...

mallen - November 2, 2011 09:13 PM (GMT)
I have been looking at getting one of these myself recently, would be a cool thing to have, but have never seen one in an altezza.

looks like a simple process to install so should not have to many drama's there.

The only reason why i have not done it yet is because at the end of the day you still need to turn the key, and all my mates think it's a bit rice.

Anyway, I still might do it, and get one of those TRD start buttons to put in with it, would look sweet I think, will let you know how it goes if I do it.

Toyota had the start button as an accessory for the Altezza. Yes, rare - have only come across one new kit so far.

Tezz-Winnie - November 3, 2011 10:48 AM (GMT)
I have one in my Altezza and who ever did it made it look very stock. Its a nice feature and it gets a laugh whenever I get my car washed or someone gets in the car without seeing it but it truely is a pain sometimes.

Push button starters are as old as the hills in the racing community and can be wired up for about $10 spent at your local Jaycar but at the same time it makes you look like a tryhard...

I would never get one installed but its there and thats what I have... Its a bit like buying a car with LED tail lights. Yea something you'll never do but you have it so que sera

peanut - November 3, 2011 12:36 PM (GMT)
i bought the Pivot starter button, fitted it to where my dash dimmer use to sit. i'll get some pics tomorrow

slowfade - November 3, 2011 01:10 PM (GMT)
Thanks guys ! i think its cool feature understand some say its bit ricerish image, the first car i ever seen it fitted as standard was the Honda S2000, as for turning a key its only half way far as i know, thats for security reason obviously otherwise anyone can jump into your car and drive off  my dads Lexus IS250 got it as factoy fit no need turn key as long as the keypad is in the car or in your pocket it will work!

Heres the JDM option for the Altezza,- it says for manual transmission only, hmmmm...
JDM Altezza push button starter

but at £130 (about 200AUD) i think not.........
Im still tempted but not at the JDM Altezza one though !

madaltezza - November 3, 2011 06:36 PM (GMT)

Tezz-Winnie - November 4, 2011 07:58 AM (GMT)
Thats nice. I have my red one in the exact same local..

peanut - November 4, 2011 09:20 AM (GMT)

only if you leave your car unlocked ;)

what I was trying to say was what peanut said, just forgeting it's there and turning the key.

Anyway, I think it would be a cool thing to have, at the end of the day it's your car so doesn't matter what other people think

That looks real good peanut, I was wondering where the best place to put it would be, did it take long to install?

I think I have to give this a go now. :D

That looks real good for sure :) on my IS200 theres a dash dimming switch in place and my old Altezza RS200 didnt have one, if i get a push button starter it replace the cigerette lighter ! also loving the steering wheel, is it custom ? usually the red part of your wheel is black and the black part is red or grey like the JDM RS200Z or the UK/euro spec sport model ??

Now that is pretty cool

I wonder how hard/expensive that would be to do?

peanut - November 17, 2011 08:58 PM (GMT)
it wasn't too hard to install. came with all the instructions on which wire to attach, pretty straight forward

Since I did the altezza conversion my dim switch don't work anymore hence i thought i'll replace it with a starter button. since my last post...i've used it...ONCE hahaha it was when someone was in the car and i wanna look cool rofl

i thought of putting it at the cig switch initially..but its too far and too convenient for passengers to access...didn't want that, plus i need my cig charger plug all the time...

just get one on ebay, i would suggest these - they look better quality

The XR5 focus I had in Perth was pretty cool. The push-button start was located by the gearstick, and all you had to do was have the keys in the car, and you also had to push the clutch in - press the start button and away it went.

Funny thing was, if you held the keys out the door, it wouldn't start. Pretty good proxsimity sensors :o

so looks like its $210 US for the RFID push start kit which contains the cards, sensors, start button etc

http://www.ebay.com/itm/300567104272?item=...SELX:IT&vxp=mtr

which is a lot more than just buying the start button

I wonder how easy it would be to install, any problems etc

Here's mine...

http://i1134.photobucket.com/albums/m615/Altezza_Wez/030.jpg

I put it in place of the key, I thought that would be better, I also mounted an ignition switch on the left hand side of the steering wheel.

All seems to work well.

Wait-a-minute how would that work? I thought this thing will only work if you have the ignition key in the ignition starter keyhole. <_<

EDIT = Oops nevermind.... Didn't notice about that ignition switch on the left part. ^^;;

How did you mount the key on the left side? ... Pic?

:)

Wez - December 5, 2011 05:26 AM (GMT)
No key, just a switch.

peanut - December 5, 2011 06:40 AM (GMT)
if you left the car running...got out of the car with the card and walk over 2m away..would you car shut down and lock itself?????

Wez - December 5, 2011 07:04 AM (GMT)
No, but I wouldn't miss the start of the next race because I've misplaced a card either. Or a key for that matter.
