Went to 4 WOF places in my home town of Kawerau today... all were booked until next week apart from one, who as soon as I drove up said that's too loud.

Anyone know a lenient WOF place around the Eastern Bay of Plenty? Might just have to make a trip up to Hamilton to get it :(

Would like one that still actually checks safety things though.

(Been out of the country for 6 months so rego is on hold and everything so don't think the police will like it if they pull me over)

Don't they use a decibel meter?? or won't that help your case? :P

My son failed a WOF in Melbourne today because the muffler rattled inside. The car was quite quiet, but they didn't use a decibel meter either!

Very few places use a meter, and even then some testers don't do it properly. My son's Sylvia was failed by one dB, but they revved the nuts off it to cause a fail! Otherwise it is entirely subjective ... including roadside where a cop can order the car off the road and force compliance testing. Killjoys :angry:

To be honest... I don't think it would help. Last time I used a decible meter it failed, I put another resonator in, it dropped it by 1dB. Now have no more room in my exhaust to put more resonators in.

It sounds real loud most of the time but passes at the 3,500 rpm you have to old it at, but as the revs drop down to idle it has a real deep noise that kicks up the reading.

Never been bothered by cops, cert place, or warrent places before though. So looks like I'll be taking it up to Hamilton to it's normal place.
