Is it brake shudder or just poor stopping response?
It would pay to get them checked.
The brakes in my Altezza are better than the Peugeot's and Chrysler's I work on and they're supposed to be some of the safest cars in the world.

The rs200 brakes are awesome std, and with some minor mods I.e. pads, rotors and fluid they are pretty amazing...

thanks for the reply's really poor stopping response haven't changed the pads yet want to get other ideas from members regarding good pads to use etc my brother is a mechanic and he agrees with me about the bad breaks one of my previous cars was a mitsi diamante they had very good breaks

Having driven some very quick road cars etc, the RS200's brakes are pretty much as good as you can get without bolting on big brake upgrades. However I think the 6cyl cars have smaller discs and different calipers? Can someone confirm this.

On my last one combined racespec rotors and pads with some good brake fluid made for some really short stopping distances (basically limited by the tyres) but the downside was tons of brakes dust!

Exactly the same between a 98 RS200 and a 99 IS200. Owned both cars and have done brake service / upgrades to both

Yes this is correct.

Heres the difference between the factory brakes on the AS200 and RS200 Altezza's

AS200 (single piston front caliper with a 275mm disk)

RS200 (twin piston front caliper with a 296mm disk)

AS200 are so under specifyed!

Only some AS200s had that brake setup, just the real base models.

My AS200Z (2001) had the larger brake setup and I know of others that did too.

i had an as200 previously with the small brake setup.. I have to say that if properly maintained(pads, rotors and so on), they are pretty good...

But rs200 brakes > as200 brakes haha
