Title: Throttle Problem?

778 - May 31, 2012 02:35 PM (GMT)
HI my IS200 recently suffer an engine problem. While I was driving it suddenly loss power and no rev but the engine was started.

The engine light on and TRC control light was flashing
I had this problem once in long time ago but I restarted engine then still car goes fine.
but now it cannot work after restarted. ( I stopped at centre of the rd) so scary btw
Then I call tow truck tow my mechanic and he checked for me and it shows this two error code

P0120 Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch "A" Circuit Malfunction
P0121 Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch "A" Circuit Range/Performance Problem

I heard that if the whole throttle body will be expensive from OEM Lexus.. Can I just order the TPS sensor? and Is it any common problem in IS200/Altezza? I have seen in other oversea forum it does happen all the time

Did you guys have same experience as I faced?
how did you fix it?

Thanks so much!

Take your throttle body off and give it a good clean.

What do you normally spray it with(same stuff as for the Maf) and can you just leave it on and clean the front only?

Same stuff you clean your maf with. Your better off taking it off, not that big of a job

If the car still doesn't start after cleaning the throttle body, try disconnecting the throttle position sensor and starting the car. It should start but will display some error codes on the dash.

I know the throttle position sensor can be purchased by itself if need be.

Tezz-Winnie, I presume the dirty throttle body causes it to stick and or not function properly.
So when the air flow/actual throttle body position doesn't match what the TPS thinks the accelerator pedal is doing the ECU freaks out and the car dies?
