Title: Fuel Gauge Not Working
14YER - July 20, 2012 04:37 AM (GMT)
I was driving on the highway when suddenly my fuel light came on and the fuel gauge dropped completely. I know for a fact there is about 3/4 of a tank left of fuel and I've have a look for any leaks around the fuel tank, luckily none, so I'm assuming this is an electrical problem.
I've had a search and it seems like people have experienced improper readings but nothing as drastic as this. The rest of the taco is working fine bar the fuel gauge but its not completely stopped working as the fuel light is on.
Has any one else experienced this problem?
Things I've tried so far: hitting the dash - didn't work.
About to reset the battery and see if that does anything
Any suggestions?

Mine died the other week was saying I had 1/4 of a tank when I ran out. Turns out when I had the fuel pump replaced they bent the float arm or somthing seems to be workin now.
Have you tried using a hammer it's my go to tool

Hitting the dash was a good start. Did you try turning it off and on again too? lol
Anyway sounds like your transducer might have popped a winding. Take your fuel tank apart and check the transducer or take it to an auto electrician

Haha, yeah tried turning it on and off as well
Hmm, haven't touched the fuel tank before. do I just take out the rear seats to get access? I might have abit of a poke around, hammer a few things and see if I can find any visible issues before I take it to a sparky.

Drove to work with the issue still present, I reset the ecu but that didn't do anything to solve it.
While I was driving home though, it suddenly went back to normal so I have no idea still why this happened or if it will happen again.
