refresh your cache. Goto internet options and goto cache or termporary internet files and delete - then try again?

What happens? What error do you get, exactly?

Need more info... As T-Bird says, what's the error. But also, what browser are you using? Are you behind a restrictive firewall? Have you tinkered with your HOSTS. file?
bongya - June 27, 2005 10:58 PM (GMT)
it said no access permissions...
'Sorry, the board administrator has not enabled your permissions for this part of the control panel.'
;)

Well worth it....one of my fave avatars!
xnickx - July 19, 2006 10:48 AM (GMT)
Every now and then my avatar dissapears, and so do a few other members (eg for me at the moment I can't see greeneyes avatar but I can see TBs)...
When I go to add a new one, it doesn't change the avatar, just wondering if anyone can see my avatar? Or know how I can get it to show mine again?
cpufix - July 19, 2006 07:00 PM (GMT)
I did have this problem at one stage, refreshing or reloading the page I think from
memory solves the prob.
Cheers

Your own computer will store all the images in the temporary internet file, so when you change something at Invisionfree you will not see the new image until the old one is deleted from your file.
Then again, I go through the avatar files occasionally (which only show up as a file number and a size) and delete all the large pictures, so that loses a few...
and there are the occasional bugs where images don't load properly or at all...

Tried that, no good still. Thanks anyway.

Tried deleting my 'Tempolary Internet Files' and also deleted my 'Cookies'...
Thanks again for your input however.
For an example, right now I can see Colin's avatar, but still not mine or greeneyes, does my avatar appear for everyone else?
I'm still stuck :(
Spanky69r - July 20, 2006 07:10 AM (GMT)

You don't see avatars when you're logged in as guest, though I guess that's not the cause in your case since you're posting under xnickx...

Yeah I still can't figure it out eh. Like on this screen-shot, I can't see your avatar, but cpufix's shows up.

Can any of the ADMIN help me with this? I went to the Invision Help guide and was given the following:
| QUOTE |
| An avatar is a little image that appears under your username when you view a topic or post you authored. If the administrator allows, you may either choose from the board gallery, enter a URL to an avatar stored on your server or upload an avatar to use. You may also set the width of the avatar to ensure that it's sized in proportion. |
So yeah...wondering if any of the admin knows what it means and could possible help me with it???
Thanks
Nick

What do you need help with? You've got an avatar there on the left. However you've linked to a 640x480 150 kb image, so all that info has to be loaded and then resized by everyones web browsers. If you can resize first and then upload...

Every now and then, some of the admins go through and clear out all the large avatars. You haven't been one of these victims, have you?
Nick, your avatar definitely needs resizing - any of us can do it for you if you require, or, simply download www.irfanview.com, install it, double click on the image, and hit Ctrl+R on your keyboard to access image properties. You can resize as a percentage. Save, upload. Considering how large the image appears on the site, you should resize down to that size. Sounds to me like your browser might be timing out when downloading large avatars, which is why certain peoples avatars don't appear.
(Note: the instructions above assume you are computing in a Windows environment).

I know the avatar is there but I'm still having the same problem as I've been having where half of everyones avatars dont show up.

Yeppo - and i'm also having the same problem. I can't see my own avatar and some others (eg xnickx's) as well. I'm pretty sure I resized it correctly!
