just received the trd close ratio gear kit for the race car as i have been using my trd ratio w57 and decided to try a 6 speed behind the race motor so i can change the diff ratio and use 5th as 1 to 1 instead of overdrive 5th .
the gear includes 1st and 3rd ratio new imput and lay shaft ,so mainly at sandown ,and winton race way can use 5 gears and i can use 6th at philip island down the main straight .also on the diff ratio will go from 4.55 back to 4.3 ratio .my top speed at the island is 220 kays before brakes at 8500 rpm with the w57 box in 5th gear so i will be able to use 4.3 and still get the same speed and same revs in 5th and use 6th if need be ,will let you guys no how it goes early next year

Glen, with the RS200Z here in Sydney is also installing the TRD gear set into his car. He is dropping from a 5.1 back to a 4.7. Will be interesting to here the results from a race persepctive as well as from a street/trackday persepective!

well the box is in also the new motor as well ,had a small problem with the vvti on the inlet and have only made 165 kws at the moment but this motor will also be dry sump when i get the tank finished and hopefully this motor hits 190 kws and then up to 200 with the dry sump system all finished
this spec motor has bigger valves on inlet 35.5 and 31.5 on exhaust comp is up to 12.8 to 1 new larger cam on inlet is 540 thou and 500 on the exhaust ,on the inlet side 50mm quads agian with longer ram tubes and 540cc injectors .this motor is only using vvti on the inlet as it is a fwd caldina motor also new valve springs and titatium retainers with forged pistons and forged rods as well and also 140 grams lighter each than the other motor

how do you like the new gearset? I imagine the evenly spaced gears make the car nice to drive with the reduced final.

was at the island yesterday and with the new 6 speed ,what a pain in the arse ,well it is when you are trying to get used to it ,normaly i use 4 gears at philip island ,was using the same here with the 6 speed but had a few clutch problem etc and trying to remember not to go back to 2 nd ,its all to hard so im going back to my 5 speed till i can get used to it and im waiting for some spare parts like a new carrier bearing as mine shat it self yesterday as well plus the clutch as well
