Got Black Tez complied today, no probs. Alex from Norwest Motor Mechanix was recommended by the AA Compliance Centre and is a down to earth, no-nonsense guy. Arrived on time to pick my car up from work, and took it a couple of streets away to the AA Compliance Centre in Archer's Road to do the photos that go with the paperwork. Gave me a run-down on the process up to delivery of the plate from LTSA, and discussed where we will fit it to the car.

UPDATE: Well the plate has arrived, and Alex has brought it round to show me before it goes back to LTSA. The LTSA engraver must've been asleep as half the plate does not match the paperwork ... paperwork says 5AT, plate says 5MT; paperwork says Sportivo springs, plate says adjustables :o

Is He pedantic, or the kind of guy that would let a few things slide (chassis rail a little bent, some dodgy exhaust welding -- doesn't leak though)?

He's a pragmatist rather than pedantic, but at the same time I'd say if you tried to pull one over on him he could read to the letter of the law as it were. I'd give him a bell and ask him straight if he thought those defects would likely be an impediment to certing, and I suspect that if you could otherwise get a WOF it shouldn't be an issue.
