Not that I know of, as our rear calipers are already 2 pot so no point in upgrading just for the look?

cookie - July 19, 2009 03:36 AM (GMT)
Are the calipers from a Supra or are they an after market upgrade for a Supra?

They are actual OEM supra calipers, not after market ones.

xnickx - July 19, 2009 05:37 AM (GMT)
Correct they are the largest in the Toyota family that will fit on our cars, found stock on the 6MT 2JZGTE JZA80s (RZ Spec).

Exactly the same as TRD High Performance Brake Kit's calipers! You really gotta drive a car with them fitted to appreciate them for yourself!

xnickx - October 15, 2009 01:44 AM (GMT)
Bump - only 2 sets left!

Ard Righ - October 15, 2009 04:58 AM (GMT)
Tempted. Especially with the crap drivers around, better stopping power is always a bonus!

Can i put one on lay-by? :D

Ard Righ - October 20, 2009 03:16 AM (GMT)
Err, these don't fit behind stock 17's without spacers? :(

correct. 15mm from memory

you'll need to certify them anyway, so spacers isnt an issue.

just make sure you do a heap of mods and cert all at the same time for max value for money!

xnickx - October 20, 2009 03:39 AM (GMT)
Correct me if I'm wrong but don't you only need a cert if you modify the braking mounting points (or use custom adaptors etc) or the knuckles to suit? Where these can be fitted without mods bar the press in FIGs adaptors?

And if you use engineered spacers with new studs inside the spacer no cert for those aswell?

Might be wrong :P

People who have gotten these kits from me so far have yet to have any problems with WOFs that I know of :S

Spacers and adapters: You will find they are required to be certified by the letter of the law (bearing in mind i'm talking about NZ here, not AUS)

Read: http://www.lvvta.org.nz/stdWheels&Tyres.pdf

Specifically section 2.5(1) Points A through F

Brakes: check out http://www.lvvta.org.nz/stdBrakes.pdf

In short - you need to to certify if you modify any part of the braking system to anything that isn't OEM fitment spec

Sure people might not have issues, all depends on who is issuing the WOF. You flout it at your own risk

To be honest, if the supra logo was painted over you would be hard pressed to know the factory calipers had been changed. As for the figs adapters, they replace the original press in threads so you wouldn't know any different as they look factory. I believe that's why people have so little problems passing wof with the supra bkk.

JTMILLER - October 27, 2009 03:50 PM (GMT)
Just a quick question, what have these kits got regarding the automagical 4 channel ABS system? are these just stripped of the sensors etc?

xnickx - October 27, 2009 08:54 PM (GMT)
The ABS/Speed sensors sit into the hub and work off a ABS Rotor gear inside.

ABS will still function as normal :)

mapple - October 31, 2009 12:32 AM (GMT)

NewZealanda - November 19, 2009 12:09 PM (GMT)
I am interested but haven't got the $$ at the moment. There are a couple of things (clutch, cambelt, lowering, tints and mags) that I would like to do to my car beforehand.

3sglevin - April 19, 2010 12:55 PM (GMT)
