I need to know the depths of the factory speakers so I can attempt to make some templates for new speakers I will be purchasing, I couldn't find anything apart from they are 6.5" for the fronts and 6X9 rears.

Thanks everyone

stacks of room in the rear for width Depth, assume your not going to put 6x9's in there *cringe*.

For the fronts In the past i have used 10mm baffle/spacers and there is room to spare in front of that for cone travel (just remember to paint the baffle)
But from the innner door panel to the glass (window down) the space would be in the region of 50mm no more.
The easiest way is to wind the window down remove one of the panels drill out the rivets holding the factory speaker in place, remove the speaker and break out the tape measure.
I fitted some fusion 6 inch splits a few weeks ago and needed to remove the rubber boot of the magnet to get enough clearance.
I have soundstream splits and no space issues what so ever

How i have mounter my rear splits, needed to trim the factory grill a tiny bit underneath to fit the tweeter)

Excuse my ignorance, but why not 6X9's?

you shouldn't "need" 6x9's especailly if you are running a sub
*possibly expecting a bit of flak here*
but why would you want the bulk of your cars stereo sound coming from behind you? It's like going to a concert and spending the whole time with your back to the band.

There are plenty of audio enthusiasts throughout the forums and i doubt any of them have many nice things to say about 6x9s.
But ultimately it's your choice and your ears that need to be pleased, if you choose 6x9's then thats fine.

Personaly spend money on a great set of front speakers some sound deadening (damping) material and amp,a good head unit and you wont need rear speakers at all

heh, just read back through the above. My appologies if it sounds like a lecture.... it's just my opinion

Didn't sound like a lecture at all.

Interesting to hear that though, as I know nothing about car audio.

Eh at the end of the day if you spend the money on a great set of front speakers, and still have the money to spend no problem with 6x9s in the rear,
I regularly have passengers in the back seat so i'm sure they appreciate the fact I wasn't selfish and just got speakers for the front.
Plus its nice when you look into the grille from outside that it has a stock finish although i'm sure some of you more hands on guys could fab something up to look that way tongue.gif.
