Its easy to replace. Take the wheel off.
10mm Socket on extension.
- 3x 10mm bolts (ABS Sensor, Shock and Body)
- Bend the plastic inner line out and unclip the sensor.
- Test the resistance (If its open Circuit then its busted and you need a replacement)
- If its 1600ohms that's not the problem

but i would say that 99% that it has been stretched and broken

Sorry to be sound stupid but do you have any graphics related to this?

I still have no idea where the sensor is located =S

Take the wheel off and look behind the metal guard/ Brake Rotor
It will be mounted to the hub and a black line which runs towards the front of the car.
Plug hides behind the plastic wheel lining

And for testing the ohm, just pin the tips on the 2 tiny holes on top?

No because the wire leading to the body is broken.

You will need to undo the plastic lining with a 10mm socket and the white plug will be right there.

Unplug the white 2 pin plug and connect the multimeter

I am guessing that's the part that's under Brake > Front speed sensor?

im guessing it was the wheel speed sensor wire causing the problem. if its not too badly damaged i could repair the harness.

and yer the traction control and abs are linked and controled by the same ECU becuase it needs to know how fast each wheel is turning to work out if one is locked up and there for skidding or if one is going faster and there for has lost traction

either way i have never seen a ball joint fail like that. mind you my car has 165k on it and i think there still the original ones.
