Well I have always noticed since owning the car on a very slight decline that sometimes upon accelerating there was a slight 1-2 second hesitation, and then the car would take off.

It had never worried me, but now it seems to be happening more frequently and it happens on flat road also.

The car has all the log book services, the tranny fluid was changed last when I had my major service timing belt, water pump etc at 135k kays back in 2010, now the car has 155k kays...

I'm not certain that its the torque convertor but just the way the issue 'feels' like it may be...

Has anyone struck a similiar issue? I was thinking it could be the leads, but generally the leads cause a hairy idle also (spoke to a mate who is a lexus tech and this is what he said it may be) my fuel filter is due to be changed but I doubt its that & the spark plugs were changed for denso platinums at 95k kays so they should still be ok....

Your lexus tech sounds like he doesnt know your car as IS200 have coils not dizzy leads.
Platinum spark plugs can last anywhere from 25-50K so it might be the problem. Have you checked your tps, air filter, erg system and how do your injectors look?

yes correct the IS300 has coil wires..?

Platinums from what I know last 100k kays in a oem engine? When I removed mine at 95k kays they looked fine, but I replaced them anyway. (Actually by memory they were denso fine tip iridiums-which were the long life $120 a set jobs)

Air filter is fine, as for the others nope I haven't checked them! (yet!)

Yea 2JZ have coil packs as well smile.gif How is your transmittion fluid?

Platinum spark plugs MIGHT last 100,000km in a brand new commodore but a wearing 2J with high revving and 10.5:1 CR Im going to say more like 50,000Km. This is how long they lasted in my IS200 and even less in my Altezza which is why im going iridium next. If they are Iridium you'll get maybe a thrid extra life out of them but thats just what I have found in various 3S engines and the 1G in my IS200.

Well I thought I would update this thread in case someone is having similiar symptoms.

I'm not exactly sure what happened, but I think I may have had either a bad batch of fuel or clogged injectors? I started filling up at a different servo (caltex not shell) and chucked in a injector cleaner and low and behold the issue went away....

But having said that the weather has been a lot cooler lately, and I haven't been driving my car as much due to having a spare car to drive around in atm wacko.gif
