I just solved my Err3 problem!! when say solved i mean. recovered all my CDS!
wink.gif

After another frustrating time trying to get my cds out and getting ERR3 i gave up, turned the radio off by pushing the audio on/off button while it flashed Err3 and it ejected my cd.

i went thank god! turned it on again and pressed eject again and got Err3 problem again pushing on/off and it came out.

end result got my 3 cds i had lost in there biggrin.gif

That worked twice for me over the space of about 10 months but by time number 3 it got really jammed up. Just dont put any "real" CDs in there cos its a mission pulling the unit apart to retrieve the discs when it finally packs up!

Nah "the Bends"

Bought back in like 94, and kept it in mint condition, no scratches etc. I could probably buy another one off ebay for $5, but it's the sentimental value also!

I guess I will just take the 'have no mercy' approach and just gut my cd player and chuck the remains in the bin once I retrieve my 6 cd's!

Hold it!

cpufix can do them in Wgtn. We know the problem is that the vertical shaft carrying the reading heads jumps out of its lower mount point, which is just a dip stamped into the steel plate.

Look up his post about fixing them here, or PM cpufix.

Well the CD player in my 99 RS200Z works but its scratchy as hell. Won't be using the CD or Minidisc and don't want to change the head unit cos it hard to find an after market one that doesnt look ugly when installed.

I thought about trying to find a head unit out of an IS to get around the band expander issue but from what I've read on this forum that road sounds like a mission.

My idea was to get someone to install an aux plug on a wire so I can plug My iPod in. The head unit I have is the 'Super Live Sound System' one with the amp which has kick ass bass so thats another reason I don't want to replace the whole thing.

Band expanders are crap too so I thought about getting an MP3 player with a radio tuner in it too then its like having the stereo on a remote.

However, the guy at Rapid Radio told me the plugs cost $350 which I think is bullshit and he just wants to sell me a new head unit.

Does anyone know where I might be able to get an aux cable installed for a reasonable cost?

Thanks if anyone can help!

Happened to me on my trip to cambridge.
I ejected all the good ones and left the bad one in.
I hit the load button and while it was whirring & buzzing I put a cd in and it took it!!!!!!!
Taking the CD must've put everything back in line mechanically cause I could then load the rest and I had no problems anymore
Although I am now sticking to the 5 CD rule smile.gif

hi was the same but found a HU that you can change the colours

i'd definitely recommend getting an aftermarket HU, just make sure to get a decent fascia. re the factory amp it does not really make a noticeable difference, in fact i think it now sounds better than when i had the stock unit lol

Hi Guys
Just found this uTube vid about how to remove the head unit and top of centre console - Altezzas dont have screws under the felt mat like the IS300.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=khJVrUaNTDQ
Also I couldnt remove the top unit with the felt mat like in the video but I levered it out with a steel rule behind it - as per pic.
cheers
Harley
