I'm deciding between these coilovers. What are your thoughts/feedback on each?

Buddy Club N+ Spec

or

TRD Suskit

Both will be new and around the same price smile.gif

i've had some experience with quite a few different coilovers in altezzas now. and to be fair, it all depends what your after. wether you want something comfortable, handles well, or just sacked on its arse.

my personal preference is the TRDs, as they are nice and firm but still a comfortable ride. handle quite well too. but their no good if you really want to get the car quite low to the ground.

I'm after handling and no need to be ultra low.

One main difference between the two, the N+ are both height and spring preload adjustable (separately) where the TRD Suskit, both preload and height can't be adjusted separately.

Also the TRD are just the stock styled top mounts where the N+ you can opt for pillow ball mounts.

Keep in mind what quality of ride your are after too. Depending on the ride height, the TRD ones can be quite stiff if you're after a pretty low ride height, as the spring preload is controlled by the same ring that adjust the height and they would be stiff as hell.

PS the TRD adjustables do not come with the C-Spanners LOL

In a nutshell:
TRD - More track orientated, less adjustment
BuddyClub - More street orientated but still suitable for track use, loads more adjustment.

To lower the ride, don't you wind the lower rings down? So with the TRDs wouldn't that mean less preload and hence softer ride? ie. lower = softer?

Yep your on the money there. I've got mine set as low as they can go with springs still captive, and also have set up the cornering cross weight. Ride firmness isn't bad at all.

I would go with the buddyclubs Stephen.

The main reason that they have independent height adjustment, so the stroke of the shock piston isn't shortened as you adjust the height of the car. Shortening of the stroke is a major contributor to shock seal failures as this increases the stress on the components and fluids within the absorber & also delivers a harsher ride.

Also the buddyclub warranty would be a lot more promising, where as a lot of the TRD stuff for our cars is getting phased out, and the BC offer a replacement warranty.

But in the TRD's favour, they would match in with your colour scheme of your car nicely!

I've contacted IS Motors about the Buddy Clubs and was told they no longer sell these as customers have reported issues with them, such as leaking sad.gif And no longer made in Japan.

According the Buddy Clubs website they are still available.

Maybe try a different authorised dealer? Unique Auto Sports I believe are in Seven Hills which would be fairly close to you as well.

But I was very impressed on how well the Buddy Clubs perform. They handle well and are very comfortable too!

Reggie/Will, can you confirm whether you have Buddy Club N+ or D1 in the Yellow?

I was told that the N+ Spec was for FF and D1 Spec for FR & 4WD

Buddy Club's warranty has changed. It's 12 months warranty not 2 years as stated on their website.
