Hi from a new Victorian member.
Purchased about a month ago for the missus (upgrading from an AE101 Corolla with a 4A-FE - deadly reliable but at 263k on the odometer it's just about done and the cost of a 7A-GE retrofit would cost more than the car was worth). 2002 model, was basically stock. Fitted a JDM Altezza grille (I removed the Altezza badge). Lowered springs go in in a couple of weeks to hopefully stop the back end kicking out under braking around bends - if no improvement I'll try something else (still want a decent ride, and we live in the hills so needs reasonable ground clearance). I looked long and hard for an auto Altezza but they just weren't to be found in Aus and the missus is a bit rough in a manual. Tried an IS200 but just not enough power for the weight of the car, but handling definitely felt better in the auto IS200 than it does in the IS300. Colour is Graphite Grey Pearl - hence GGPIS300 for the username. Future plans - decent cat-back exhaust, maybe have the rims polished up and clear-coated (previous owner has left some gutter rash on them). Replace the (broken) antenna. Maybe change out the rear foglights with tinted, not sure yet. ![]() Dean. |

Old and new...
The Corolla went from stock to 14" rims, to 15" - huge improvement from 13" to 14", not so much on the 14" to 15". I thought it handled pretty well, but the IS leaves it for dead in cornering at speed Sold inside 24 hours on carsales.com.au. ![]() Dean. |

Welcome along.
Sounds like you need a stiffer rear sway bar & strut braces (front & rear) to firm that chassis up a bit. Enjoy. -------------------- |

Thanks for the warm welcome.
Stephen - Found through Google a long time ago, just been lurking E910 - Yes, stiffer rear sway bar I have been looking at but haven't decided on a suitable size yet (I don't want to go too big and reduce the cars ability to stay flat on twisty uphill/downhill turns). Recommendations welcome Dean. |
