Well, after much research, i have settled on the S03, as has been mentioned.
I have been somewhat impressed with the Eagle F1s i have had on my car, although the are a little noisy, and the Uniroyal Rainsports i've had on my car are really quite good too, although they chew up quickly, and when you hit the limit in them, they let go more suddenly then other tires i've experienced matt -------------------- |

The dealer put on some brand new Gooyear Revspec's on mine. I believe they're like 235/40R18 something like that. Don't know how much they cost (quite frankly, I don't want to know) but they're great in both dry and wet. And they don't seem to lose air much! I went overseas, came back after 1.5 months but only pumped air after 3 weeks of driving and it hadn't lost a single PSI! I used to do my tires weekly in the old FTO.
I always love how much stabler and safer this car seems, and I know these tyres play a big part, especially with wet grip and cornering! Awesome! |

Have you tried Nitrogen in your tires? I did 5000kms in my car over Xmas/New Year, didn't loose pressure at all....believe me, i tried to!
Nitrogen: "It's like so totally worth it" AND it gives you an excuse to put NOS stickers on your car, i suppose. Provided your into that sort of thing -------------------- |

nitrogen is a bit of waste of money.. especially if you need to change pressures regularly..
riding on street only increases 2-3psi on fast highway driving for 1 hour.. and not that much more driving on street crazy for a short time not like track where it changes 8-12psi from cold temps after a 15min session |

Hey
Go for the Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3 they are the best bang for your buck! Wheels mag voted them #1. Got a set befor xmas..they do make a bit of sound when cornering hard. |

I also got a set around November last year.. And found the same thing.. A bit of noise when cornering hard, aside from that pretty damn good value. -------------------- Brisbane

How are they wearing though? What is the wet grip like compared with dry?
Granted, NOS in your tires is no good if pressure change is required but for me, at least, i don't want any change. However, i have also found that the tires don't loose pressure like they used to - but perhaps that's just better quality valve caps? :shrugs: -------------------- |

Just wondering how much air you guys put in your tyres? is 35 psi too much or too less on 17x7"?
Thanks Alex |

I spoke to Firestone in East Auckland today about prices for Grid 3 tyres.
He told me that they retail for $371 but would do for $282 fitted and balanced. Does this sound like an ok deal or is there really something else available for less with same or better performance? -------------------- RESIST

The best source for tyre info I've ever found is http://www.tirerack.com. For example, check out http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/mi_ps2_nextGen.jsp
According to a number of sources, including tirerack, the Michelin Pilot Sports PS2 is the ultimate tyre. In Australia, in 225/40/18, they cost $575 EACH. (In the US, you get 4 for under US$800). The Goodyear Eagle GS-D3 and Bridgestone S03 also rate highly. The S03s, also in 225/40/18 are around $375 each. Now, how should I spend the $800 I saved by buying the Bridgies? -------------------- BMW E39 M5 + RX300 + AE92 SX (Daughter's) + Soarer GT Limited (Son's)

i use s03's currently and haven't tried d3's. although some of the guys from the workshop do use d3's and can't be bothered trying the so3's as they love d3's.. on the flip coin, not sure if the guys on so3's would be bothered to try d3's..it's half and half. if they are about the same price, pick one... im sure you'd be happy in the end..
a little bit different when doing circuit as i've gone through re55's, o2g's and now ao48's.. im more open to try out different rspec than streets as you go through them more anyways... |

Early experiences. After 1000km on the Bridgestone S03s, I only have one comment. Wow. More later. -------------------- BMW E39 M5 + RX300 + AE92 SX (Daughter's) + Soarer GT Limited (Son's)

When S03's overheat, chunks fall off. They are more of a wet weather tyre.
I plumb for Advan AD07, which also is excellent in the wet, but is good in the dry too. |
