Victoria will adopt "anti-hoon" laws giving police the power to confiscate cars from dangerous drivers.
Under the proposed law, expected to be introduced this year, police will swoop on drivers who speed, deliberately lose control of their cars, illegally race in the streets and do doughnuts and burn-outs. .... More than 1700 cars have been confiscated in QLD since anti-hoon laws were introduced two years ago. VIC, NSW, QLD...? |

in NSW excessive loss of traction = high security parking for a little over $2 a day, a friend found out the hard way. It was piss funny watching the cops laugh at his lancer being done for a burn out, also being a double demerit longweekend helped to the laughter, but the best bit was it was infront of the police station

In New Zealand it is already happening. You lose the car for 30days and pay a fee to get it back out.

Maybe we should make our cars less attractive to police... no sporty exhaust, no fancy bodykit... be a "wolf in sheep's clothing"!
Drive safe! Italian police got Lambos, Japanese police got modified R34 GTR VSPEC, Australian police got done-up V8s (Ford, Holden and HSV) ... Not sure about NZ police |

I know for a fact that police deliberately follow and target cars which are, or appear to be modified. If your a P plater in a WRX, you WILL be pulled over by Police regardless of how you drive. It's a fact of life. However, it's laws like these that Police abuse. "Deliberately loosing control of your car" well, if you know what your doing, it's not loosing control now is it? Besides, if it's wet, and your taking it easy, and driving legally, you can still slide out. However an officer with a grudge can ignore the oil on the road and write you a ticket because he doesn't like the fact that you are a young person in a nice car.
Thankfully, the few officers i have had to deal with were all quite reasonable. And most drivers of WRX's and 200's are also quite reasonable. Sadly, a noisy miniority ruin it for the rest of us! -------------------- |

yes it was cheap, towing fee $500 court cost $1600 and storage fee was bout $70 for 30days. This was in Tamworth not in a city so i expect the storage to be dearer in the big smoke. -------------------- 67 of 75 Caliente R.I.P.

We can't forgive unfair charges!
Noone wants to do silly things in front of police, we were unlucky sometimes. Where can we have fun? PS2, Xbox, PC...? Maybe I should sell my RS200 and other cars, and play PS2 instead. |

Standard charges:
Weekends - 1.5xnormal fees, Public holidays - 3xnormal fees We pay $50incGST for towing, weekends and public holidays are regardless! They know people are going to pay the huge bill to get the car back, what a ripoff! If we have aborigines friends in any cars, police would smile at them and drive off lol. I am going to play Xbox and PS2, I can do whatever I want with any cars. he he |
