I have only had my is200 for a couple of weeks now and its too low! ninja.gif

Im sick of scraping speed bumps/gutters/etc

I just took the wheels off (stock 16" wheels) and took the following measurements:

top of the wheel arch to the centre of the hub jacked up with no tyre, then parked with the wheel on (not jacked up)

Front: 420mm then 320mm
Rear: 420mm then 315mm

edit: top of wheel arch to ground Front/Rear 620mm/610mm

There are no identifiable marks on the springs, they are matte/satin black and are NOT CUT as far as i can tell. Can anyone tell me what brand they could be so i can find some springs that will provide a comprimise between stance and practibility?

OK, I can see why!

Right now Greeneyes is sitting at 650mm ground to top of arch on stock springs and shocks, both ends, so you are considerably lower than the stock RS200 Altezza, which is lower by a lot than a stock IS200!

What shocks are they?? Got photos? I'm wondering if the shocks mount the springs lower of they are just very short springs.

Not sure what shocks but I think they are standard as they sometimes fully compress if I hit a bump at speed. Coming from a 4wd background i assume independent suspension wouldn't have bump-stops!

Any suggestions for springs apart from king springs in aus? Can't justify the price of coilovers.

Oh, they have bumpstops on all cars, and lowered cars do hit them!

Kings or coilovers are the only two options as far as I know-

Maybe some of the Aussie boys will know someone in between.

How about a set of Altezza springs from NZ- there should be a few sets lying around after people fitted coilovers.

I heard K-mac do custom springs or something
Maybe Pedders do springs as well

I mean, BC coilovers are about 1.2k for a set? Save up =]

Plenty of decent quality brands that I know of (not cheapy one size fits all sort of setups like Kings / Dobisport etc)

Here are some of the most common high quality springs with their spring rates (kg/mm) and lowering height in mm (if I can find them)

TRD - Lower Spring Set (48130-SE100)
F=6.5kg/mm / R=6.0kg/mm
Approx 25-30mm all round

TRD - Sportivo Spring Set (48130-SEZ10)
F=5.3kg/mm / R=5.7kg/mm
Approx 20mm all round

Tanabe - Sustec NF210 (SXE10NK)
F=4.2kg/mm / R=3.8kg/mm
F=30-40mm / R=20-25mm

Tanabe - Sustec GF210 (SXE10GK)
F=5.1kg/mm / R=4.6kg/mm
F=30-40mm / R=20-25mm

Tein S-Tech (SKY10-M1B00 Medium)
F=7.6kg/mm / R=6.2kg/mm

Tein S-Tech (SKY10-S1B00 Soft)
F=5.5kg/mm / R=4.4kg/mm
F=35mm / R=23mm

RS-R - TI200 (T310TD)
F=5.0kg/mm / R=4.3kg/mm
F=30-35mm / R=15-20mm

RS-R - RS★R Down (T310D)
F=5.0kg/mm / R=4.3kg/mm
F=30-35mm / R=15-20mm

C-One
30mm all round

ended up putting in a new set of low king springs and 4 new shocks and the car is 10 times what it was before to drive! now i have noticed and noise that sounds like a CV noise but a little more solid when i turn hard right. i cant see anything that is fouling in the wheel arch. Any suggestions on what it could be? If it was AWD i would be suspect on the CV but being RWD im at a complete loss!

I got TRD shocks and springs on Work CR 17inch and my car sits about 140mm for the road to the bottom of the front lip and to the top of the wheel well on all the guards its is 620mm from the ground.

I think this height is okay. I have to slow right down and wiggle up and down speedbumps and my front gutter each morning(looking like an attention seeker, but I am just looking after my car.) But I love the stance and presence of the car, I won't go back to the stock height.

Maybe look into bigger wheels or IS300 shock and springs cause my IS300 used to sit quite high compared to IS200s. Maybe 1-2 inches above a stock IS200. Almost identical to the stance or the GS300
