hey guys, so i just installed some KSPORT coilovers and the ride is sooo firm. I've heard u r expected to get the ride a little more firm but this is just way too much.
currently i am running the damper settings at FRONT: 12 clicks from hard and REAR: 12 clicks from hard. Any suggestions as to how to make the ride a little more comfy? I thought it might have something to do with the tyres as the rear is way more harder than front. I currently am running 225 18 40 on the fornt and 245 18 40 on rears. input would be great guys, cheers. |

buy some different coilovers...
I'm not sure if they have changed but K sport and D2 were horrible ride quality, usually because they run stupidly high spring rates standard. Fortune auto digressive valved coilovers would be my pick for new coilovers, best of both worlds! comfort and firmness when needed |

Or if you dont need the adjustability because your not planing to or never track your car then buy some stut and spring type suspension with a customised hight and stiffness spring. Too often I see these threads pop up because someone bought adjustable racing coilovers for street use...

@ tezz-winie
yeah that wat i was originally going to do. just order custom height springs but thought its never height adjustable so i stuck with coilovers. @ H1Vltg3NZ they have 36 level dampening. |

Yea there was a reason why everyone at the time suggested buying strut and coil type suspension and this is why. Every time you adjust your suspension its imperative that you get a corner balance or youre just going to end up with suspension thats geometrically retarded, kind of like a bar stool with one leg to short. I have had my tein flex for years and the only times I have adjusted my suspension was when I bought the car because the previous owner had no idea and then when I moved it to my Altezza. When I put my turbo on ill do it again because the extra weight of the intercooler ect is going to throw it all out again.. Adjustable suspension isnt meant to be adjusted every time you get bored of how its sitting, it thats your deal then get yourself a set of airbags. |

Soften it as much as you can and see if it helps.
I have the same suspension and im running full soft on front and about 1/2 way on rear and its pretty good...for me. It all depends on what ride you want...... Corey -------------------- |

No offence or anything but saying your coilovers are to stiff and your not on softest setting its a bit silly dont you think?
As Corey said wind them down to full soft. -------------------- 1999 Toyota Altezza RS200 in White

Guys this only affects your damper not your spring rate.... The harder the setting the less travel oscillation. This will help make the car feel softer but your spring rate determines how stiff the suspension feels.
If you want softer suspension buy a set of coilovers that are less then 8Kgf per spring. Out of interest what is the spring rate on the K Sport springs? |

@ Tezz-Winnie: cheers, yeah i dnt wnt to be messing with it too much like u said. HAHA yeah airbags, hopefully they do go in in the future.
@ turbo tezza: cheers mate will give it a go and let u know @ H1Vltg3NZ: yeah i will try going soft but i've realised that when i go to a point when its too soft, the rides really really bouncy |

btw i think Tezz-Winnie has got a good point, like he said it all comes down to the spring rate. as for the ksports im not too sure about the spring rates.

If its the spring rates, just get new springs as most coilovers are based on standard spring sizes, just need to get the correct rate and length. Not sure where you are based but stocks in auckland have a big range of springs they can get.

Pretty sure they are 10 kg/mm front and 6 at the rear, so not hard at all.
Someone correct me if im wrong........ -------------------- |

Car handles like a dream. No understeer at all. Pretty much point and shoot and try not to get the back hanging out. Have front and rear cusco sway bars fitted aswell. -------------------- |
