In australia we are getting the G model for 29K and in japan its the same price if you convert the currency... Never in my life have I seen Toyota offer a car for the same price as in Japan...

I am hoping to pick up one version or the other (possibly STI one if Subaru do one) next year.

Looks like a very exciting enthusiasts car.

Most of the tuning houses will jump on the 86... Just give it time and you will start seeing all sorts of crazy modifications. Only problem is emissions, these days they are to strict sad.gif

Apparently TRD are releasing a supercharged version too? I'd imagine they would be rarer then hens teeth

Has been suspected, but TRD have not confirmed anything yet.

Doubt that would be covered by the new vehicle warranty tho haha (rest of TRD parts sold with the car will be covered with the new car warranty!)

Yea but TRD arent what it used to be sad.gif TRD used to be all about suspension, exhaust, brakes, gauges and power adders now its mainly under bonnet bling, interior crap and a few plastic body kit pieces here and there.

The last decent thing TRD did was the Hilux in Australia (FWD dont count sorry aurion smile.gif Would love to see them step-up the game on the GT86

Must admit they haven't made many sport coupes since the JZA80 and the SW20 (and the ZZW30 if you want to count that LOL but what about all these below?
Guess it's not so common in Australia as they are imports only but there are some of these kicking around in NZ (esp the Mark-Xs)

Mark-X (GRX130/133/135) - GR series engines (same as IS350/250 etc)
The Modelista ones were supercharged and were 360hp!

Crown Majesta (UZS180 series) - 3UZFE

Caldina GT4 (ST246 series) - 3SGTE

Brevis (JCG10/11 series) 1JZGTE

And my personal favourite:
Crown - GRS200 series, again 2/3/4GR engines again

Haha exactly Nick smile.gif Oh you missed the best of all, the 2JZ-GTE powered Aristo V300 vertex edition! (GS300 on steroids)

Still compared with what TRD used to offer in the 90s, they have got soft... Esp on the international stage...

hmm performance figures wise the 86 seems to be very similar to the altezza Z haha. so all the cashed up youngsters that get one will still be smoked by our cars tongue.gif. and yes TRD has gone very soft ever since the wide body JZA80

after driving one on saturday ive got to say they are a very nice car to be in!!

the seats are so good, comfy yet very supportive.

all the dash and dials are well set out.

power wise its lacking and has to be reved hard to get it going but thats to be expected with 150kws

the steering it very sharp and gearbox is great

all in all a very nice car to be in and i would definatly buy one but it wouldnt stay stock for very long lol

ill update with some pics soon
