Where do you get Redline?
I am considering to try the Automatic gearbox oil made by this brand.

I heard the price is pretty up there tho

Fairly pricey but does its job alot better than other oils. You'll never look back after using it. I get mine from Autobarn (Sydney) smile.gif

Same same......thats what I use aswell. Never had any problems and my 6sd is running behind turbo-charged 3sge.

I bought mine from Jap-race in Christchurch. It was $25 per litre but its good stuff.

You can buy any redline oil at any Bursons auto parts in Australia. Other then that its pretty sporadic.

Royal purple is good, Indy uses it so thats a big seal of approval but I dont believe its worth the price to be honest... MT90 is tried and tested and I give my boxes hell and I haven't replaced one yet (IS200, Altezza, Celica GT4 ST185, Celica ST184 all manual).

I'd stick with Redline MT-90, it's tried & tested in our cars. Looking at the specs for RP maxgear 75w-90 it's quiet a bit thicker which will result in more drag & has a lower VI.
The only other brands I would try would be Amsoil or TRD.

Redline MT-90
Vis @ 100°C, cSt 15.6
Vis @ 40°C, cSt 90
Viscosity Index 185

RP maxgear 75w-90
Vis @ 100°C, cSt 19.1
Vis @ 40°C, cSt 132.3
Viscosity Index 164

Amsoil MTG
Vis @ 100°C, cSt 14.8
Vis @ 40°C, cSt 88.4
Viscosity Index 176

Royal purple has been used in a multitude of AZ6 boxes around the traps especially in the 6MT 200SX (thats the prodct code azin uses for our box thats found in IS200, Altezza, 200sx, mx5 and a few others) but I havent ever done it myself because I dont rate it as highly as redline because of my personal experience with it as I know it works and Im reluctant to try something new.

yeh, been thinking of chaning gb oil to redline and at the same time flush engine then use redline as well. might do it all in one go with the diff

i just had a look MT90 is 75w90 would that mean its weight is too high?

It seems that way but I have found in my experience that it shifts between the gates and coming into the syncro much much smoother and easier then stock gear oil.

Also found it is slightly more economical....

Yeah i too find it alot smoother and easier than standard gb oil.

The numbers of the viscosity may be too high but i think its just in the stuff they use in the oil thats difference to regular oil. Thats just my theory happy.gif

Importing oils is a real pain in the arse when it comes to customs. I would be just getting it from those guys... Can anyone recommend a good steering rack oil?

To high for what? 75w-90 is the factory fill in the trans. Are you talking about the diff? You can use anything from a basic LS90, to a 80w-90 or even upto 75/80w-140.

Winnie- http://www.redlineoil.com/product.aspx?pid=79&pcid=27 or a synthetic DexronIII might be easier to find.

I think BNT sells redline products throughout NZ.

Have a look for your local dealer smile.gif
