Hey All,

Prior to my Altezza arriving in NZ its had HID bulbs fitted to it which i'm told were not factory.

Naturally 1 of the bulbs has blown and im expecting the other one to go soon.

They are not the standard D2S HB4 configuration but they fit into the same locking lugs as a H4 halogen bulb but are an HID bulb.

So far I have not had any luck finding one at all. No one in NZ that I have spoken to seems to be able to source them.

So my question is, has anyone here come across this before and does anyone know where I can get my hands on a damn bulb. I'd really rather not have to go and change the entire HID setup just to replace a blown bulb.

I have attached a couple of pictures of the blown bulb so you can see what im talking about.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as 2 weeks without a headlight makes for some rather average night driving.

Are you headlights set up for HIDs? cause they can cause you to fail a warrent if the reflectors are not correct.

I've had it mentioned to me once before when I got a WOF at AA. He said that he was happy with the light coming from them but warned that they are illegal if not from factory (I have no way to prove that) and that because of that I could fail my WOF. but in the almost 4 years i've owned it, i've never had any problems.... Yet.....

Thats why you will be struggling to find a bulb, check out ebay, HID for cars that came stock with them eg impreza might get lucky and find something which is compatable. PM XNICKX he is the Parts Manager at north shore toyota, because they are illegal he won't be able to sell you an HID but he might be able to point you in the right direction, and if all else fails, ditch the kit and replace them with regular white bulbs which nick will be able to sell you.

I had the same issue. What you need is a 9006 HID globe. Plenty available online but make sure you get one specifically designed for reflector housings. This stops other driver glare.

High beam is 9005

Cheers Tezz-Winnie So far the issue im having is the 9006 all seem to come with the base attached. The base in my tezza is already cabled into the existing headlight cabling, it doesn't look like its ever been modified. I cant see a ballast anywhere for the HIDs either which seems weird. All the HIDs on trademe etc seem to come with the cabling already attached as if you were going to plug it into something, but mine is different.

The connector for the bulb is also attached to what looks like the existing bracket which holds the bulb in place which makes me think they were either very professionally done or possibly installed from factory. Were they ever offered as an optional extra? I've got a 1999 RS200Z.

eBay is going to be your best bet http://www.ebay.com/itm/2x-9006-6000K-WHIT...=item5ae877f633

E910 - Nope not been to Manukau Toyota. They have the correct locking lugs but the connector on the bottom is different again these look like they are configured for a standard conversion kit. The base of my bulb as showin in http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/72/photo1tj.jpg/ is circular and has a single pin in the center. Those look like the 2 pin versions i've seen from the conversion kits. Whats the difference between these (other than the obvious visual differences)?

I had a guy in with the same problem. Might have to try your luck with a cheap TM kit then? http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-...n-499769566.htm

In a very dramatic voice to your Altezza

"Who did this to you, who did it!"

Seriously some people have no brain and just go chopping at looms for no reason to make things work. I feel sorry for you champ, this is def not factory.

Hmm In this case how easy is it to go back to standard H4 halogen bulbs? I'm guessing I have to unravel all the loom and follow it back to wherever the ballast is (I cant see it anywhere so its quite buried). Then remove that and rewire back to the headlight? Is there anything removed when adding an HID kit to a car?

Drop the bumper off the front, it might be tied in behind there somewhere, otherwise you will have to trace the wires back to the fuse box, You may be missing the plugs which connect to the halogen bulbs should be able to get these off a wreckers. or someone who did an HID conversion.

Exactly that ^^^

The H4 plugs are easily sourced if they are missing. A quick google search turned these up http://autolumination.com/connectors.htm

Enjoy!

Most likely chance is the balast is hidden away somewhere though

Hmm Not quite sure as I didn't install it. I will have to have a good hunt around on the weekend to see if I can find the ballast anywhere.
