Am planning to change my A01A (open centre) diff to A01B (Torsen LSD) before Taupo. Anyone done the conversion themselves, know what parts and pitfalls are involved?

id advise to change all the disposal parts, like bearings, seals, rings - not re-using them. not sure if myself or someone else listed all the exchangable parts in another thread somewhere here..
it will cost approx $300aud for the spares, or more (if you dont have trading discount). once installed, do a standard diff oil change at 100 then 500km. is the diff new or 2nd hand? you could also consider changing the type of diff oil you use, especially if youre going to track it. |

why not just sell up and buy manual? It comes with the LSD which means less hassle, plus if you are going to track it you will get over automatic after 2 laps.

Thanx guys, keep it comin'! No thanx to the offers of 6MT cars tho' ... as Greeneyes alluded it is too much fun seeing off manual cars with an auto
. I've got Manukau Toyota rustling up a parts list for me (I hope)! Parts guy bailed on me and put me thru to the workshop  so now the workshop guy is chasing the parts guy  . Oh well, guess we'll get there in the end!!! -------------------- ALTEZZA RS200Z- LEXUS WITH ATTITUDE!

afaik the 5at doesnt come with the option of a torsen diff, and the manual diff ratio is comepletely different.

 ! Never!!! According to the detail posted elsewhere in these threads I can do same ratio Torsen as Open Centre for 5AT, hence aim to go for A01B diff. Starting to look like it may be better to put TRD centre in tho' -------------------- ALTEZZA RS200Z- LEXUS WITH ATTITUDE!

Hi fellow 5AT owner.. great to see your post as I am trying to get hold of one myself! In fact, it should happen this week... another 6MT guy in the Singapore forum selling off his car and I am gettin his Torsen LSD.
Anyhow.. what other mods do you have on your AT so far? You on piggy back at the moment? I am on oBit (SMT6 from Perfect Power) and currently no enjoying that... autoshifts are a pain to handle... so.. thought of upgrading to eManage Ultimate or FCon SZ or something.... |

G'day! Current mods are listed in my signature on each post. I've just bought an A01B Torsen diff complete from K Road Auto Wreckers in Hamilton. These guys are a pleasure to deal with , seem to know their Altezza stuff inside and out. Before Taupo will do springs, and fit Racepro racing seat.  -------------------- ALTEZZA RS200Z- LEXUS WITH ATTITUDE!
