This mod applies to the RS200.

When I had my HKS Hyper, the drone at 3k rpms would drive me nuts on long drives, so I figure I'd add more sound deadening material in.

To geat an idea of how little dampening material is actuall used on a RS200, rap your knuckles on the tire well compartment from under the car. Inside the boot area, there is only about a 20cm X 20cm piece of anti vibration material on the inside of the rear quarter panel. At the recommendation of a local shop, I had Dynamat laid in the spare wheel well which put paid to about 50-60% of the drone. You can do even better by doing the quarter panel as well. For the cheapskates, blankets & pillows stuffed in there will work as well. And besides blankets & pillows can be used for other things too!! laugh.gif

How about the HKS silencer addon

That defeats the purpose of having an exhaust in the first place, as it sucks power for quietness.

Remember, exhaust loudness does not always equal power.

no but inserts which cause a resistance to the exhaust gas velocity cause loss of power

Theres also a myth that with turbo cars, a added silencer can stuff the turbo?
haven't been able to find proof though! but it makes turbo's sound ridiculously noisy!

Don't EVER use one of those in-tip silencers if you have a turbo! It'll create massive backpressure and could damage the turbo! ohmy.gif

do you see how small the exits for those inserts are? They are like 1.5-2"

It would be worse than running an 2" exhaust because the 3" pipes behind it would have quite a bit more volume. And its not even a gradual decrease in diameter...its an abrupt wall.

Look at it this way...its like having an elephant size turd exit through a humans butt....its hard work and puts alot of stress on the working bits.
Elephant turd + elephant butt = smile.gif its works a whole lot better
