hoping this motor will be ultra reliable, and make more power, with same boost setting. The old one had no gaskets between turbo/manifold, manifold and engine, had turbo/exhaust leaks, im lucky the turbos survived.
This one will look more factory, black covers, piping. -------------------- Toyota Power

Best to start another thread, spanky! But the short answer is that the 3SGTE IS turbocharged already! (Hence the T, for turbo). You can use the head and pistons from that engine on the BEAMS 3SGE, at least i believe that has been done here once. Otherwise there are two stages of HKS turbo kit, one which is low boost and does not require a change to the head, and a 2nd stage one which comes with a replacement head gasket.

I got my car tuned on the weekend with the new motor. This motor pulls more power outta the box! The old motor @ stock boost pulled 179rwkw, this motor at stock boost made 192rwkw! At 15psi, I made 230rwkw. Anymore boost, it would splutter due to ignition. Thats enough power for me for now.

Status of Car - all finished - just tuning and troubleshooting to go.
The Traction Off light and the engine check light stays on. Expected the engine light to stay on as most of the signals are now missing. Might pull the dash apart and remove the bulbs. -------------------- Graham D

Alls well except appears the water-pump is stuffed. Have overheating problems.
Will pull the pump out of my spare 1JZ and swap them over on the weekend. Then I might be able to drive it some distance. -------------------- Graham D

Hey Graham,
My pump also died (on the old motor) Got a new pump, genuine Toyota brand new for $90 something dollars! How did you go? My car runs fine temp wise, but Im just going off the factory temp gauge, I will be investing in some oil pressure/tem and water temp gauge in the future. Also, Che, Yianni how are you guys going with driveline strength? My diff has a slight leak, nothing serious tho, but I am scared it will go one day. They rekon on the IS300 forum, GS300 or TT Supra diffs fit straight in. -------------------- Toyota Power

There was nothing wrong with the old pump but I bought a new one. Wasn't going to go through all that again to replace a pump later on.
Have accurate temp reading from the Autronic - it has it's own temp sender to get the accuracy it needs. That is how I noticed the problem. The standard one is not the most accurate. Have a Supra TT diff at home - can send you photos and get you any measureuments you need. We replaced the diff in my son's V8 Soarer with a special multi-plate TT LSD diff and I have his old Torsen diff here. Also have a JZZ30 Torsen as well. They are all the same size and mounting. It won't fit the IS200 - maybe the IS300 has a larger diff as standard. Apart from the size of it being bigger the connections for the drive shafts are different. Would be interested in finding out what the IS300 actually uses. Will ask one of my mates in the States who runs a souped up 2JZ in his IS300. -------------------- Graham D

Adding more reviving thrusts
The 2JZ-GTE in the cressida (out of a JZS147 Aristo) made 185rwkw with no intercooler (and less than 10:1 AFR), and recently (2 days ago) made 222rwkw with a cooler on 13psi (with almost flat 12:1 AFR). The engine is completely factory other than a 3 inch exhaust (high flow cat and two straight through mufflers - very quiet). The factory map sensor tops out at 17.5 PSI (personally measured) so there's a bit of room to move - no idea where the factory boost limit is. What I thought was overboosting (boost cut) due to the large exhaust actually appears to be the rev limit - the tacho needle doesn't keep up with the engine but the dyno datalogger doesn't get fooled Mandatory IS200 content - the 1UZ is being packed in japan this week, I'm getting more and more excited! Hey boys, I haven't made any progress with the diff as yet due to the fact of the car been held up by the coops and registration authorities here in Melbourne, they believe that my car was rebirthed and I am currently in the proses of clearing it or getting refund my money from the auction house.
So if thinks go wrong everything out of my car will be for sale. I will post on for sale wen I am ready, if any one is interested keep an eye open. The car is running very strong on standard boost and has produced 190kw @ wheels and 500-510Nm all 4 times that I did power runs on the dyno. Best of luck with your conversion guys. Yianni. |

hey guys,
i've got a is200 and i want to do a 1jzgte conversion. having read this thread there really isn't much help on doing it urself which is what id want to do. I'm a hands on guy and would enjoy doing it. Ive been told by a few workshops in brisbane that getting the motor and gearbox into car is easy and doesn't require much work. BUT....there is a "box" behind the dash that you need to hook the motor into so everything works. The quotes i've been given are. half cut with auto box (missus can only drive an auto) $2100 putting in motor and box $2000 hooking up all the wiring to this "box" $10,000. Now ive done 3 conversions in other cars myself so this cant be to hard. Has anyone done one and what is this "box"? -------------------- 99 lexus is200 on 20z with ice....
