better grounding? i dont understand... where can i find a better ground? please help. My amp manual mention something like, When using the speaker(high-level)input,the back wire must be grounded at the radio. failure to do so will result in noise and/or improper operation. but my amp didnt come with any wire.... can someone help me understand this please,i really want to hook my front speakers to the amp,i left 2ch doing nothing atm |

You can use any 2amp and above eletrical wire that is available from KMART. recommended is 8gauge wire. Find any bolt and use it, most bolts are to the body of the car anyway. for mine I just used the boot hinge bolts, and put the wire to that. Generally any attachment will do, just as long as its attached to the body. I used to get stereo noise because a ground that I use was actually attached to the back of the stereo which did not touch the car body. -------------------- ----------------

lextcy - what was the source of those diagrams? Getting wiring diagrams seems to have been a bit of a black art... especially ones which detail how the sat nav is wired up.
I replaced my factory head unit with an aftermarket one meaning my sat nav now no longer powers up - i'm interested in finding out what I'd have to do to remedy this... but not sure what the dependencies are with the factory head unit system... -------------------- 99 Altezza RS200Z: C-west front kit, xenon conve, HKS intake + Apexi heatshield, FGK/Fujitsubo exhaust, TRD front and rear sways, Cusco adjustble platform suspension

voice, those diagrams are those used by lexus workshop. its in a book called lexus is200/300 electrical wiring diagram supplement
as for the satnav, a guy named fargo on is300.net and UK lexus owners club has made a device which allows you to keep the satnav working but you need to have the stock amp installed still heres a link http://fargosys.com/html/sat_nav_bypass_module.html alee, are you sure you have everything grounded properly? getting a new HU might not help |

Could we get an aftermarket Head Unit install post started here? With pics? Since i have recently been victimised by ERR3, the threat of OEM headunit failure is looming.
Perhaps we could get some pics of those of you with aftermarket installs? And some testimonials on what was acheived? Better sound - how much better? Has anyone managed to intergrate the factory amp and speakers with an aftermarket HU? It's been said that there are few/no aftermarket units that can 'talk' to the OEM amp like the OEM headunit can. Apparently they share a special bond... -------------------- |

No factory amp in mine, so no hassle there. Headunit gives me RCA inputs so I can run my pocket pc tunes though it. All good.
