Got out to my car today after work and have a wee ding on the front passenger guard:
user posted image

I'm absolutely stumped as to how it got there though. The shape of the dent and the fact there are no scratches around suggests it's not from me driving into something - plus I probably would've noticed if I drove into something there.

I washed it yesterday afternoon and am 99% sure it wasn't there then. Last night I went and saw a couple of mates, and parked in their driveways both times, so no way it could be driven into.

I park in a private indoor carpark at work, and was parked nose in in the morning, so pretty unlikely to get a dent at that end (plus the carparks are quite wide and the guy who parks beside me also drives a 'tezza sometimes so would be more careful!). I popped down to the bank for a total of maybe 1 minute before lunch and again parked nose in, tyres almost up to the curb, so unlikely to have been able to be hit like that. Back to work and reversed into my park, which means there's a 600mm thick concrete pillar protecting that corner of my car.

So, no idea at all how I got the mystery dent, which annoys me even more!

Is this dent a candidate for Paintless Dent Removal? Does anyone know anyone in Dunedin who does it? That panel kinda needs repainted anyway so not the end of the world if I have to get it done the old fashioned way, but still a pain in the ass.

Bugger!

TBH I don't think the paintless dent removal would work as its too close to the folds in the guard.

Go the old fashioned way I reckon

I'd Agree with nick that you will need to take to a Panel Beaters..South City Panel beaters behind Dunedin City Motors and ask for Ryan or Jules tell them riki told you too come ...looks like a $200 fix as the paints quite pricey

Didn't think it'd be that cheap Riki - was assuming it'd be double that.

Might be a good excuse to finally get my grill painted too.

Me to I'm a victim of this. Parked my car on High St in town on the weekend, and came back with two big dents in the front left fender. The dents were punched in with two fist and I think one hand was wearing a ring.I was very disappoint when i came back to the car after a good night out in town.

But I haven't parked anywhere a 4x4 door could get to me :S. It's also just pushed in on the flat area on the front - the actual ridge lines are still perfectly intact, so it's something very small and exactly that height that's pushed it in. Maybe a tow bar could do it, but even then, it's quite small area.

I had worse dings on my old Primera from the supermarket, but I could at least explain them (both on the back right corner of the car). This is just weird.

Just check with Dents-Plus or someone first....

It is a lot less hassle if they can do it as the re-painting over the filler costs more than half the job and often doesn't match.

You could try giving it a push from the back with something flat like a block of wood that fits into the flat portion of the lip
