Powers:
Acid — The natural oils that cover any human being’s skin, in the case of Axel, are instead made up of a highly dangerous acid base. If she were to touch another human being anywhere on the skin, they would receive a nasty burn to go with it. If she were even able to brush up against someone, they would get a second degree burn, complete with blisters and all. If she were to, for example, hold someone’s hand, they would feel excruciating pain and receive at least extreme third degree burns. If she were to hold on long enough, the person would melt away until they were nothing but a gooey puddle on the floor. The acid reacts only to organic, living things. For example, she wouldn’t destroy her own clothing, or her bed, or the table, but she could easily kill any living thing she touched if she could just hold on long enough. Her acid negates itself, so when she leans her cheek against the palm of her hand, she won’t burn her face off. There have certainly been times when she wishes she could just lean her arms against her body and melt away. This complete isolation from other people has gone on for years, and the feeling of being unable to touch anyone at all has had a distinct effect on Axel’s mental state.

Impervious Skin — The acid in Axel’s skin negates all other acids and bases, so, were someone to douse her in acid with the intention of harming her, the only complaint they would hear out of her would be that she was all wet now. Axel’s skin is likewise impervious to rubbed-on poisons like poison oak, UV poisoning in the form of sunburn, and other skin-related problems. While a good punch in the face would break her skin and make her bleed just like anyone else, Axel wouldn’t scar. She never scars. Furthermore, the acid in her skin is fireproof, which means that if she were to simply brush flame she would not burn. Her only worry even walking through a wall of fire would be that she could, conceivably, lose her clothing in the process or cause herself pain by something melting on her skin. The oily acid can be rubbed into her clothing over the course of a few hours, so after a while her clothes would become flame retardant as well. Her pores do not absorb any outside reactants. Breaking Axel’s skin is easy, it simply can’t be damaged by fire or subtle, pore-related ailments. This has encouraged recklessness in Axel, and she has a casual way of behaving in terms of damaging her own body that makes others uneasy at times.

Overall Appearance: Tall, dark, and handsome? Isn't that supposed to apply to men? Well, apparently not. Axel's height places her directly on the short side of model range--standing at a full height of 5'9, Axel is in the middle-high range in terms of comparing to most girls and women she meets, and while she's still shorter than most men she meets, there's still the occasional guy who Axel claims a glorious couple inches on. Axel's build is slim to go with her tall stature, making her seem even taller than she really is. Her limbs are long as well, centering around long, slim legs and slender arms with pretty hands armed with double-jointed fingers. Her face is her most redeeming feature along with her hair. Her face is shaped like a rather sharp oval, with high cheek bones and a defined jaw line. Axel's soft black hair is cut short in the back, with a wide spray of bangs that shadow her pale complexion sensually. Though she is of fair coloring skin-wise, Axel is more prone to tanning than to remaining pale (note that though her skin is repellant to the toxins of UV exposure, she can still absorb it in the sense that it would stimulate her skin to create more pigment.) It is usually only her face and such that tans at all, however, because in general Axel covers herself to the point of ridiculousness. Axel pretty much always wears long-sleeved, conservative tops that cover all of her chest, and is prone to wearing turtle necks as well. At all times Axel wears a pair of very thin black leather gloves so as to be able to do everyday things. Axel always wears long pants that her shirts usually cover down to her upper thigh. Hidden under cargo pants and jeans, etc., Axel wears army surplus combat boots. Acid Trip is not at all interested in any accidents, and would cover her face with a veil if it weren't so troublesome. In any case, she doesn't let people get close enough to touch her face. Axel's eyes are a funny thing. They are large, and dark gray, rather like ominous storm clouds swirling in their depths. Despite what she would prefer, these eyes are painfully expressive, especially when Axel is sad, and framed by a thick fringe of dark lashes. All of Axel's movements are very careful when she is around other people, though she takes no such care when it comes to her own well-being.

Personality: Sad, remorseful, bitter, self-destructive... These are all words that apply to Axel Divine. However, you may not see it right away upon meeting her. Axel greets the world with a careless, cynical demeanor that indicates utter apathy for the world around, except where problems for herself are concerned. For example, if asked why she joined the X-Men, Axel would reply that someone had to show the world that mutants weren't going away but weren't going to kill everyone, either, because a problem for mutants means a problem for Axel. On the surface, Axel seems very self-involved, careless, and rather shallow. Her high intelligence is plain at all times, but her interests lie outside the realm of academic achievement. One would probably guess that she was one of those people who dropped out of high school to start a band, or something like that. Whether or not it's true, she probably won't share with you, but she does still have an old electric guitar from a long time ago...

The problem, people later discover, is not that Axel doesn't care enough, but that she cares too much. Far too much. Axel doesn't allow herself to be interested in anyone or anything, generally, but when she does become attached, she becomes so attached that the relationship can no longer be called healthy. Axel would do anything to protect those she cares about, and always considers anything that befalls her loved ones her fault. They tripped and needed stitches because she couldn't be there to catch them, they got lung cancer and died because she couldn't make them stop smoking. Axel should have known that boyfriend of her friend's would hurt him, why didn't she see it in time to stop it from happening? That sort of thing. The strength of Axel's attachment, once formed, can often frighten the object of her obsession, and it isn't extreme to call how much Axel cares obsession. She has an addictive personality, and anything happening to the source of the object of her addiction/obsession can have disastrous results. While she takes care of her responsibilities to other people, Axel often neglects to take care of herself on normal days. Things like proper meals and good nutrition completely escape her. Axel barely keeps herself healthy, and when something goes wrong in her life, she goes on to actively destructive behavior.

Axel does a fairly good job at hiding all this from other people, but if anyone looked too closely, evidence of her bad behavior would be so etched into her lifestyle that others might wonder how they missed it. That's why Axel keeps others at a distance, assuring them with her apathetic behavior and callousness that there's no need to worry about her. Everything about her, from taking on a mockingly sarcastic mutant name for herself to her sharp tongue suggests a firm desire to keep others out, so usually, if they know what's good for them, they stay out.
