Karlsen was moving along the fields. Not really caring what people were doing. It never really mattered to him what they were doing. As long as they were speaking about him or thinking about him. He preferred when they thought or spoke of him in good but he couldn't always get what he wanted. So them speaking about him badly was good as they were speaking about him.
He hadn't come to the fields to get people attention. Not that there was no student here. He could see a few. He just wanted time to himself. Time to think about things. Things like finding a way to get his parents stop thinking about his little brother who was still in diapers. Hiding him in a closest hadn't work at all. In reality his parents were crazy for a few minutes and Karl wouldn't have said it if his parents weren't about to call the police at that time.
He didn't really care about his brother. He was too young to do anything with him except change his diapers and that he wasn't going to get his hands dirty for his little brother. Maybe that would change through time? Atleast that's what his mother hoped that he would stop thinking about himself and only him.
Karlsen stopped moving and took a sitting position on the grass. His eyes fixing the clouds over him. Not caring what was happening around him.

It was the weekend. No school, no homework, something Shane had been waiting for. She should be off campus doing something interesting by now and yet, here she was walking around the fields with her head in a cloud instead. Now, why would that be? Simple - her brother and one of her friends are now dating, classes are getting harder and both of her best friends seem to have disappeared. Stress was obviously an issue here and Shane was not one to handle it well.
So she wasn't surprised in the least when she ended up tripping over a pair of legs lying in the grass.
Mumbling some colorful choice words under her breath, Shane sat up and looked at the person who she had tripped over. She soon realized that his face was familiar but she couldn't remember where or if she had met him before.
"Er, sorry about that. Wasn't paying attention, you know."

Karl continued to be in his stage of looking at the clouds when he was interupted quite forcely. From what he could see a girl tripped over his legs. How wierd? Didn't people look where they were walking? He himself would have gone on a verbal attack about how she could have damaged his legs or could have hurt him pretty badly if she fell over him. Not caring if she was alright or not. Though, being surrounded by a few students in the horizon. He didn't want to go on a verbal attack and break his reputation.
"You could pay attention where you are walking. You could have injured me or yourself"
The last part about her, was in one of his most quiet voice he ever talked about. He just wanted to make sure she understood to check where she was walking. She didn't want to hurt somebody; not that it would be a problem for Karl. As long as it wasn't him; he would be laughing. His eyes now not paying attention to the clouds but to this girl who had tripped over him. She was quite hot. He definetely felt bad for speaking the words he spoke. She was the kind of girl he loved to flirt around with. They were hot that was all he was searching. As he would probably only see her once.

Shane fought back the urge to roll her eyes and nodded numbly to show him she understood. By the way she almost had to strain her ears to hear the last word of his little statement, she already figured that he was one of those boys who only cared about themselves - being able to tap into his thoughts to find out just confirmed it for her.
She grinned and pulled her blue jean clad legs up to her chest as she took in his facial features, sure that she would have remembered something about him had they actually met before. She shrugged and re-tied one of the laces on her right Converse All-Star before speaking,
"Like I said, I'm sorry." Shane told him in a somewhat monotonous voice before her expression became more lively. "I'm Shane Kingford." She extended her hand to him in a form of polite greeting, though she was perfectly aware that boys like him don't do that sort of thing.

Was she really awaiting him to touch her dirty hands? She probably didn't even wash them since she woke up. A few verbal words would have to do for her. For now she was hot, but probably dirty in the true sense.
"And I am Karlsen Ronning Westby."
He didn't know why he had to say his middle name. It just made him more him. In a way that didn't make any sense but he wasn't going to take more time thinking about it. His chocolate eyes going up and down trying to find any problems this girl could have. Not that it was important. It just made him feel better when he found problems in other people. Made him think he was superior probably hold this from his father who was the same. Never wanted any problems in their sons when they went to events and once they were at events he would pass all of his time talking about the problems of other families.
Most of his character he had gotten it from his father but he still admired him. Probably because he was the same and was doing the same things as his father did. He didn't mind it, as he wouldn't normally put it in peoples face like his father did. He only would tell someones faults when they would be picking on him.
His eyes landed right on the same line as hers. His brown eyes piercing into hers. Waiting for her to say the next thing or doing the next action.

This time Shane really did roll her eyes. It didn't matter how many times she got the exact same reaction, it still annoyed the hell out of her. He seemed to think she was of lower class then him and she couldn't help but let a smirk reach her pretty pink lips at that realization. Shifting so that she was leaning back on her hands, she let her gaze bore into Karlsen's for a moment before turning her eyes up to look at the sky above their heads.
"I see. Well, its nice to meet you Karlsen Ronning Westby." She recited, turning her gaze back to his face. She wasn't in the best mood today due to all of the stress she'd been feeling, so anything he said that could even be considered as mean would probably not bode well with her - right now, she hoped it wouldn't come to that.
"And I'm just going to go right ahead and assume that you are in the Infesus house, am I right?" Of course she was right. She always was anyhow.

It didn't take much brain to figure out that the best belonged in the best house. She wasn't in Infesus as he never remarked her and for not being remarked by him it meant never being in his eye sight before.
"It doesn't take the best mind out there to see that the best people are in Infesus"
For Karl, the house was another way for competitions and he was a bad loser. Most of his house knew about his problem with losing. This was why Karl always tryed his best to earn points for his house and when he was breaking the rules. He tried to do his best not to be caught.
He continued to look where he had been looking a few seconds ago and this location was this girls eye. He didn't know what he was awaiting from them? Maybe trying to make the girl nervous and make him superior to her. This barely worked on people but it wouldn't hurt to try on someone.
"and you belong too..."

The only thing that acquiesced to his statement was that her smirk simply grew. The fact that he seemed to be trying to get her to look at him with superiority was amusing to Shane, for she knew it was a battle well lost on his part. She wasn't about to go ahead and shoot down what she believed in just because one boy said that she was wrong.
"No, but it takes the best mind to realize that all the people in Infesus are something just off the status-quo." She shot back monotonously, raising her eyebrows to him after a moment of contemplation. "Though, my brother is in your house so I suppose I shouldn't be talking."
"Oh, and I'm a Rabidian." Shane added in at his last statement, knowing that she had probably earned herself some great comeback that she would probably receive in her head before receiving it by her ears.

This wasn't going to well. Him and those peoples slang he hated. Always made him feel below everyone and she was doing it. He had to do something that would make him superior again but what?
If she had a brother in his house, he needed to find out if he was older then him or younger. If he was younger then he didn't have to be afraid of him coming after him. On the other hand if he was older. The boy could come against Karl and that wasn't what was needed. Though it would put him in the center of attention if he got in a fight. So it was quite a win-win option for him. He could make this girl mad and sad, that would revolve in her brother coming after him.
"Ah a Rabidus. How nice, probably the first time I speak to one of those and probably the last."
Not that it was a cruel thing to get his comeback but he just wanted to make her mad enough to lose control of what she would say. Her losing control of what she would say meant him probably having a chance to throw back at her in later discussions they would have after this one. That is if they ever spoke to one another again.
Karl seemed rude and he didn't really care but it didn't come with a reason. Him being rude, most of the time ended up because he was defending himself against people. This could be cause by any little things that bugged him or affected him. It was the only way he could defend himself and hide his true feelings. Being rude and mean to people was his only solution to defend himself for now maybe when he would become older he would have different solutions.

This was too frustrating to be considered a normal conversation. Shane knew that if she couldn't calm herself down then there would be consequences to pay. Fire was not the solution, but it seemed her mind and her heart had a different opinion on that suggestion.
"Well aren't we a little stuck up? Of course, I wouldn't expect anything different from an Infesus." A perfectly arched eyebrow was turned to him in exasperation. This was obviously not going well. "I congratulate you on being predictable, Mr. Westby. You should be glad to know that you are just like everyone else."
She rolled her eyes once more and stood from her sitting position, turning to leave the scene as a pile of leaves no more than two feet away from her burst into flames. So maybe she was a little overly frustrated today - it was bound to happen sometime.

Karl was a tad bit please by what he had accomplished. Not that it was a big thing. Anybody could make someone mad. It was quite easy if you knew how to do it. The best way to put Karl angry was being superior to him or just not paying attention to him. The more you paid attention to him the better he felt and was far from being mad.
Before Karl could answer to her comment. A pack of leaves caught fire in the distance. If he had to be afraid of her he wasn't sure. Its not like if she would put a student on fire in front of everybody? Right?
Taking a deep breath before speaking. This time making sure he wasn't rude.
"Someone seems angry..."
Now was probably time to put his want for attention aside. Even if he loved attention he didn't want to get burned for it. That was just craziness.

Hearing his voice from behind her, Shane scoffed quietly and spun around with her hands on her tiny hips. Her expression was one of frustration, her eyebrows raised in defiance as she looked at him. Who was he trying to kid? Of course she was angry. That should have been the most obvious thing made known throughout this little conversation of theirs.
"Oh no, really? I hadn't noticed." She exclaimed, sarcasm lacing her voice. She could hear his voice in her head worrying about getting burned and she was tempted to grin at the thought. Of course, she wasn't about to tell him that only inanimate objects were what ended up burned through her frustration - it would ruin her fun.

Yep like he had expected. This girl was frustrated but he wasn't dumb. Till he knew more about her power; he wasn't going to push her any further. Not that he wanted too. Well okay maybe he wanted to push her mad even further if she would have been a "normal" teenager. Either way poor guy who went out with her. If he ever did anything bad; he would be in for one hot moment.
"I see that fire is your power that brought you to this school? It's cool.."
The last two words coming out in a trembling voice. He tried his best to cover his fear from her but he was doing a terrible job of it and he wasn't going to use his power. Not here and especially not against her. She wasn't threatning him at all. For the moment that was.
He wasn't sure what to do anymore. Should he leave her here or try to cool the situation down. Maybe they could end up talking? As she sure hit the mark of an interesting person. Someone who controlled fire was always good having on your side.

"Actually, its not." Shane responded automatically, moving forward a couple of steps so that she wouldn't have to yell for him to hear her. It was true, her power was most definitely not controlling fire - it was probably one of the reasons she was here, but it wasn't the main one. Besides, keeping her emotions in check in fear of the consequences was really rather tiresome.
"Why are you here?" She asked casually, feeling some of the anger disappear from her bloodstream in favor of a normal conversation.

Why was he here? Probably because he wasn't normal like all of them here. Everyone of them had powers. Some cooler than others. While others were more useful but Karl's one was deadly. Not that it could kill you; but using it too long on someone could bring major brain damages to the victim and the person having the power. This was why he didn't want to use it at all.
"I'm here because I have a power like everyone else."
He hoped he wouldn't have to tell his. He didn't want to creep her out. Being able to produce someone to see hallucinations of their worst fears around them was way too cruel. Even if he was rude and cruel; all he wanted was attention. He never has the intention of hurting someone for it. It just literally happens everytime that he hurts somebodies emotions for attention. Just like he broke his mom's heart when she heard he had hide his brother in a closet.
He was quite curious. If she wasn't here for her fire power; why was she here then? She couldn't have a second power? He never heard of those but some people probably had it. Life was unfair so he wouldn't see why it wouldn't be unfair in this section of life.

Shane could hear his thoughts clear as day withing her mind and she couldn't help but let a frown reach her lips at some parts. She knew she was invading his privacy, but sometimes she just couldn't turn it off. Some peoples thoughts were stronger then others and therefore, harder to block out. Which was kind of the case here - kind of being because she actually did want to know what he thought of her, but it was hard all the same.
"And that power would be...?" Shane persisted, stepping closer until she was around where she had originally been sitting. Lowering herself to the ground, she looked at him curiously. She was too nosy for her own good at times, but it was a simple personality trait that she couldn't change for the life of her.
"And to your curiosity, I'm a telepath." She admitted, assessing his expression as she waited for him to speak.

Karl sat there in shock from what he had heard. She was a telepath meaning she could read what he was thinking. That was unfair. Why would someone want that kind of power? It went in on peoples private rights. Nobody was allowed to know what someone was thinking. No one.
"You didn't read my thoughts did you?"
He had totally forgotten about her question. In reality he didn't really care about her question anymore. He was shocked and frustrated by the answer he was going to receive. If she had read his thoughts he wasn't sure what he was going to do. He didn't want people reading what he thought. This was his own information, his own rights and place of privacy. If that was taken from him what was he going to do?

Shane rolled her eyes. Of course she did, wasn't it obvious? Unfortunately for her, she actually came equipped with a conscience. No, she wouldn't tell him that she had heard most of his thoughts - that would probably just bury herself in some hole that she'd made throughout this conversation. Widening her eyes slightly with innocence, she leaned back on her hands and gave him an expression that told him he was crazy. Even though he clearly wasn't.
"I only caught you wondering if controlling fire was my power and if not, what was it." She lied, arching an eyebrow as if telling him to contradict her words. She had always been a good liar when it came to getting caught.
"And to answer that, I can't control fire. It happens when I get angry." Shane explained, knowing that she should have left earlier when she had been intending it.

If she had read some of his thoughts then she had read most of them but instead of doing like normally. He went along with it. He now had this girls first fault. She was a liar, a good one if he wouldn't have been paying attention to what she said. If she had gotten those exact parts then it meant she was keeping an eye on his thoughts which meant she was reading them.
"If you say so. Also my power is hallucinations."
For now he wasn't going to go in a more described phase of his powers. She didn't need to know everything. She had lied to him right there about her not reading her thoughts so what would it change if he didn't answer completely. Though she would probably ask for a more describing description of his power than just hallucinations. As that could be many things. It could be hallucinations on himself or on other people and could be about happy things.

Shane wasn't necessarily a liar. Lying took cunning and trust to be believable. No, she was simply bending the truth to keep herself out of trouble. And there was the added bonus of not causing someone else to blow their reputation because of her. Yeah, she really didn't need to be the cause of something like that. Keeping tabs on someone was easy, but it gave her a headache stronger than most people have experienced in a life time.
In favor of getting some pain medications from the nurse later on, Shane closed up her mind to the buzzing noise that had been clouding her thoughts since she had first stepped foot in the fields.
"Hallucinations. As in what?" She asked him, knowing that he probably wouldn't give her any information now. And tapping into his thoughts was clearly out now that a migraine was in session.

He wouldn't mind telling her if she could promise him to not creep out and find him strange. Even if he tried many times to find reasons why people would be creeped out by this power? Probably because they would be afraid of him ever using this on them. Especially that he didn't know how he got to know their worst fear. He always could play with the brain of other people.
"If you creep out then I assure you, your the only person I will ever be saying this too."
Taking a deep breath in before returning to his explanation of his power.
"I am in a way like you. Able to play or enter someone's else brain. Just that mine is harmful. I can make someone hallucinate their worst fears but at the sametime it affects me as I also seem to be getting hallucinations. I was told by a professor that I would control that through time and also to never use it except in moment of life or death situations. As it can cause major brain damage to me or the person I am doing it on. For example if somebodies worst fear is losing their whole family. I can make them hallucinate that their seeing their whole family die in front of them. This makes the brain go crazy and may result like I said in major damage."
He stopped talking and closed his lips togethier like if they were glued. Waiting her response or her facial expression. As the worst part of this was when he grew up and could control his power perfectly he could become a sick maniac and start making everyone see hallucinations. This was probably what creeped people out. Most people never wanted to see their fears happen and here came a sixteen year old who could make you live these moments without them really happening.

Shane's eyebrows rose considerably. She was surprised to find that she was more shocked that he was actually explaining it to her despite the fact that he could make others hallucinate their worst fears. It was surely an interesting power, but it didn't make him different from any other Infesus boy she had met throughout her school years - she wasn't about to treat him like he was something that deserved to be on a pedestal either.
"Thats cool." She told him, before her eyebrows furrowed slightly in thought. "No, cool isn't the right word. Its interesting." She amended her statement, turning her gaze to look at him after a moment or two.
"Why are you even telling me this?" Shane asked him curiously, noting the fact that he seemed to actually have a heart for a while there. Obviously she must be crazy or he had gone soft in the past ten minutes since she had first met him.

He was happy that she had corrected herself. His power wasn't cool, interesting that he could understand but making people hallucinate wasn't a thing he had a good interest in doing. He was surprise of her question about why he had told her this.
"Correct me if I am wrong but didn't you ask me to?"
He wasn't sure what was happening anymore. Did he just tell her without her asking for it? If he did then he would want to take it back for the rest of his school years. He usually never talked about his power if he wasn't asked. Even there it depended on the person. She could read minds so if she really wanted to know she could have read his thoughts. He was thinking about his powers quite often even if he didn't want too. Asking himself questions like if there was a cure so he would lose this power forever.

"Of course I did." Shane responded in an tone of voice that clearly stated that he should have already known that. So maybe her annoyance level wasn't fully drained yet - it was a start. At least no leaves were suddenly going to burn up. No need to draw that much attention to her powers. If it was on her, fine, so be it.
"I was just curious as to why you suddenly decided that you wanted to tell me about your powers whereas before you were clearly against doing any such thing." She responded smoothly, sitting up straighter so thats he wouldn't hurt her back. Shane didn't really need any other pain beside the one in her head.

She had a point but he wasn't going to let her know that. No body was superior to him; even if they were beautiful. Nobody was better than he was. Nobody was better than his father so nobody would be better than him. Or else he would be the shame of his family. That he didn't need not with his young brother already taking the frame.
"Well you can read my mind and I often think about my power which in the end meant you would know about it even if I didn't tell you. So normally its better to hear it from the persons mouth and by the time I would have agreed to tell you. You would've already known. Either way not like if your going to do much with that piece of information. I know you can read in people's mind and have some strange ability with fire. We are now equal in a way."
They were not going to be equal for long. Karl was never equal with anyone. This he learned a long time ago. He was better than most people. This was not going to change. Not today and not in the near future.

Shane rolled her eyes and stood up again, feeling somewhat cramped by the way she had been sitting. That, and he was now starting to annoy her. She didn't need that at the moment if she didn't want her anger to creep up on her again.
"Actually, I wasn't reading your thoughts." Shane scoffed, throwing her hair back over her shoulder. She didn't like the fact that now he thought she was always reading his mind since he now knew what she was.
"Call it a headache, but I suddenly lost interest." She told him viciously, turning on the heal of her converse in an attempt to walk away for the second time. She didn't like being compared to others. It made her the same as everyone else.
And if there was one thing Shane prided herself on, it was being different.

A smile for the first time appeared on Karl's face. Not a bad one no in reality a good one. He knew a way he could make her mad. Talk about her powers and saying how she read his mind seemed to have worked. He would need more time to actually see if he was right.
"Yes because someone who can read mind will stop themselves from reading minds. I would be doing it if I could. Now if your going to walk away again, don't burn those poor leaves. Also watch where your going. Tripping over someone again might be fatal. You never know. Especially when Miss is angry."
He didn't really care if she was going to leave. Most people who left in a bad way always came back. Most of them came back to get revenge, make the other one feel bad. So he was ready to bet that she would do the same. This was probably not their last conversation they are going to have in their life. Maybe after a few conversation they would be able to live with one another. Who knows? Life was filled with mysteries and surprises. That was what kept people going.

Rolling her eyes seemed to be something she'd done a lot this morning. Shane turned around with her hands on her hips in a frustrated fashion. Did this boy know nothing of telepaths? Legilimens? Apparently not.
"I'd like to see you go on day after day with a buzzing noise in your mind without learning how to block it." She retorted, crossing her arms over her chest in a defiant manner before continuing. "And I am not angry. You my dear are just annoying." She announced with sarcasm dripping from her ever word.
If she didn't leave now, Shane had a bad feeling this would not end well.

Not angry? She was almost about to explose from her expressions and movements. Him annoying oh how rude of her. He wasn't annoying. He was teasing her which worked pretty well actually. She seemed to be falling in it often.
"Wow, if I am so annoying then why you still here. Or do I annoy you in a good way?"
The last part was with one of his most flirtious tone he could find right now. He was having fun. Playing around with this girl. She bited too well but that was a problem. She was going too well along with it. He had to start watching his movement to be sure nothing would happen to him but like always he didn't think anything could happen to him. He was way too good for those things. Thats why his brother was more interesting then him.
Damn he needed to stop thinking about his brother. He would end up going crazy soon.
His eyes continued to look straight at hers or he tried to. As she was standing it was hard for him to get in a straight view with hers. He was too lazy to get up and look at her straight in the eye.

Shane scoffed and waggled her left hand up in front of her face to show him her purity ring. It was her way of telling him that his flirtatious tone of voice was lost with her. She wasn't interested and she certainly wasn't going to be a one night stand of his if that was what he was looking for.
Now on her third attempt to leave, she spun around and made her way back to the castle with a frown on her pretty pink lips. She wasn't about to let anything he said get to her. She had more pressing issues to think about anyhow.

Karl was a bit surprise by her reaction. Just having enough time to scream out so she could hear his last word before she was too far.
"Who said I wanted to get in your pants?"
Not that he wouldn't have mind but she didn't need to get that in front of her. A kiss would have done the job. This was one thing he would never understand of girls. Why did they always think that a guy who was flirting wanted to get in their pants? Probably because it was true.
Karl let a little laugh escape his mouth as he lied down on the grass and looked up at the clouds. His left hand in back of his head so that his head was not touching the grass.
